Chair Vickers called the meeting to order 2:07 p.m.

 

MOTION:   Sen. Shiozawa moved to approve the minutes of the February 10, 2014 meeting.  The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Robles absent for the vote.

 

S.B. 176       Local Funding for Rural Health Care Amendments (Sen. Okerlund)

 

Sen. Okerlund explained the bill to the committee.

 

Spoke to the bill:         Adam Troop, Utah Association of Counties

 

MOTION:   Sen. Christensen moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Robles absent for the vote.

                    

S.B. 55         Pharmaceutical Dispensing Amendments (Sen. Vickers)

 

MOTION:   Sen. Vickers moved to replace S.B. 55 with 1st Sub S.B. 55, “Pharmaceutical Dispensing Amendments.” The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Robles absent for the vote.

 

Sen. Vickers explained the bill to the committee.

 

MOTION:   Sen. Vickers moved to amend the bill as follows:  

1.         Page 22, Line 653:         


                 653  prescribed by the division and pay a fee established by the   {department}    division  .


 

2.             Page 25, Lines 741 through 749:       


                                       741    (1) (a)    The division  {, in consultation with the board shall:

                                    742   (a)  report a violation of this chapter by a dispensing medical practitioner to}    shall consult with   the

                                     743   dispensing medical practitioner's appropriate licensing board as designated in Subsection

                                     744   (23)(a)  regarding a violation of this chapter  ; and

                                     745   (b)    the Pharmacy Board shall, if requested by the licensing board of the dispensing medical practitioner,  assist the licensing board for the dispensing medical practitioner with reviewing the

                                     746   violations of the provisions of this chapter.

                                     747           (2)  The division  {, in collaboration with the Board of Pharmacy,}   may take appropriate

                                     748   action against a dispensing medical practitioner, in accordance with this chapter, if the

                                     749   licensing board designated in Subsection (23)(a) recommends to the division

                      that

MOTION:   Sen. Vickers moved to amend the bill as follows:

 

1.         Page 21, Lines 631 through 632:


                                       631    (2)  "Employer sponsored clinic" means an entity that   has a medical director who is licensed as a physician as defined in Section 58-67-102 and  offers health care only to the

                                       632   employees of an exclusive group of employers and the employees' dependents.

S.B. 63         Compact for Interstate Sharing of Putative Father Registry Information (Sen. Robles)

 

Sen. Robles explained the bill to the committee.

 

MOTION:   Sen. Robles moved to amend the bill as follows:

 

1.                  Page 2, Lines 42 through 43: 


                                     42        (1)  "Putative father" means   {an unmarried}    a   man who may be the biological father of a

                        43        child by virtue of having had a sexual relationship with a woman  to whom he is not       

                       married .

 

The motion passed unanimously.
