Chair Reid called the meeting to order at 2:14 p.m.
MOTION: Sen. Osmond moved to approve the
minutes of the February 6, 2014 and February 10, 2014 meetings. The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Urquhart
absent for the vote.
S.B. 40 Financial and Economic Literacy (Sen. P.Jones)
Sen. Jones explained the bill to the committee.
MOTION:
Sen. Jones moved to replace S.B. 40 with
1st Sub S.B. 40. The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Urquhart absent
for the vote.

S.B. 104 Improvement of Reading Instruction (Sen. A. Osmond)
MOTION: Sen. Osmond moved to amend the bill as follows:
1.
Page 2, Line 58 through Page 3, Line 59:
58 learning
technology if a student is unable to regularly access a reading clinic
location.
(6) The
clinic shall integrate both the usage of and instruction on the use of technology-based
reading assessment tools as part of the clinic's services.
59 Section
2. Appropriation.
Sen. Osmond explained the bill to the committee.

MOTION: Sen. Osmond moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion failed with Sen. Madsen, Sen. Stephenson, and Sen. Urquhart voting in opposition.
MOTION: Sen. Stephenson moved to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously.
Chair Reid adjourned the meeting at 3:59 p.m.
