Chair Van Tassell called the meeting to order at 2:18 p.m.

 

S.B. 48         Emergency Telephone Service Law Amendments  (W. Harper)

 

Sen. Harper explained the bill to the committee.

 

Spoke for the bill:       Tina Scarlet, Executive Director, Weber Area 911 Dispatch

 

Spoke to the bill:         Janet Brooks, Safe Kids Utah

                                    John Inch Morgan, Valley Emergency Communications

                       

Spoke against the bill: Chis Ireland, Dean, College of Pharmacy, University of Utah

                                     Doug Nelson, Emergency Physician, Primary Children’s Hospital

 

A handout from Utah Poison Control was distributed.

 

MOTION:     Sen. Dayton moved to proceed to the next item on the agenda.  The motion passed with Sen. Harper voting in opposition.

 

S.B.  144         Driver License Modifications  (J. Valentine)

 

Sen. Valentine explained the bill to the committee.

 

MOTION:   Sen. Adams moved to pass the bill out favorably.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

S.B.  154         All-terrain Vehicle Amendments  (S. Jenkins)

 

Sen. Jenkins explained the bill to the committee.

 

MOTION:      Sen. Dayton moved to pass the bill out favorably.  The motion passed unanimously.  

 

H.B.  15          Driver License Suspension Amendments  (D. Sagers)

 

Rep. Sagers explained the bill to the committee.

 

MOTION:      Sen. Harper moved to pass the bill out favorably.  The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Adams absent for the vote. 

 

S.B.  166         Energy Amendments  (M. Madsen)

 

Sen. Madsen explained the bill to the committee.

 

Spoke for the bill:       Brad Shaffer, Rocky Mountain  Power

 

MOTION:      Sen.  Dayton moved to pass the bill out favorably.  The motion passed unanimously with Sen.  Adams and Sen. Harper absent for the vote.

 

MOTION:  Sen. Dayton moved to adjourn.  The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Adams and Sen. Harper absent for the vote.

 

Chair Van Tassell adjourned the meeting at 3:10 p.m.
