Chair Osmond called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m.


MOTION: Sen. Reid moved to approve the minutes of the February 21, 2014 meeting. The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Jones, Sen. Mayne and Sen. Stevenson absent for the vote.


S.B. 225 Repeal of Business for Disadvantaged Rural Communities Account (L. Hillyard)


Sen. Hillyard explained the bill to the committee.


MOTION: Sen. Reid moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously.


H.B. 222 Veteran’s Preference Amendments (V. Peterson)


Rep. Peterson explained the bill to the committee.


Spoke for the bill: Lt. Col. Hank McIntire, Utah National Guard


MOTION: Sen. Mayne moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously.


MOTION: Sen. Reid moved to place the bill on the Consent Calendar. The motion passed unanimously.

Sen. Reid explained the bill to the committee.

MOTION: Sen. Stevenson moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously.


H.J.R. 3 Joint Resolution Recognizing Sister City Relationship Between Magna, Utah, and Yuzawa, Niigata, Japan (S. Duckworth)


Greg Shultz, West Township Representative at Salt Lake County, City of Magna explained the

resolution to the committee.


Rep. Duckworth further explained the resolution to the committee.
