Sen. Reid assumed the Committee Chair and called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m.

 

MOTION:  Sen. Mayne moved to approve the minutes of the March 5, 2014 meeting.  The motion passed unanimously with Chair Osmond absent for the vote.

    

S.B.  273      Repeal of Veterans’ Nursing Home Account  (L. Hillyard))

 

Sen. Hillyard explained the bill to the committee.

 

MOTION:  Sen. Mayne moved to adopt 1st Sub. 273.  The motion passed unanimously

                     with Chair Osmond, Sen. Jones, Sen. Knudson and Sen. Okerlund absent for the      

                     vote.

 

MOTION:  Sen. Stevenson moved to pass the bill out favorably.  The motion passed unanimously with Chair Osmond, Sen. Jones, Sen. Knudson and Sen. Okerlund absent for the vote.

 

H.C.R.  8     Concurrent Resolution Regarding Moving the State Prison (B. Wilson)

 

Rep. Wilson explained the resolution to the committee.

 

MOTION:  Sen. Jones moved to pass the resolution out favorably.  The motion passed

                     unanimously with Chair Osmond absent for the vote

 

S.B.  268       Prison Relocation Commission   (J. Stevenson)

 

Sen. Stevenson explained the bill to the committee.

MOTION:  Sen. Mayne moved to pass the bill out favorably.  The motion passed unanimously with Chair Osmond absent for the vote.

 

S.B. 270       Repeal of Prison Relocation and Development Authority   (J. Stevenson)

 

Sen. Stevenson explained the bill to the committee.

           

MOTION:  Sen. Okerlund moved to pass the bill out favorably.  The motion passed unanimously with Chair Osmond absent for the vote.

 

1st Sub. H.B.  356       New Convention Facility Development Incentive Provisions   (B.   Wilson)

 

Sen. Adams explained the bill to the committee.

 

Rep. Wilson answered questions from the committee.

MOTION:  Sen. Jones moved to pass the bill out favorably.  The motion passed unanimously with Chair Osmond absent for the vote.

 

H.B.  94       Workers’ Compensation and Home and Community Based Services   (R. Edwards)

 

Rep. Edwards explained the bill assisted by Deborah Bowman, Parent/Chair, Utah Chair

Developmental Disabilities Council.

 

Sen. Osmond resumed the Committee Chair.

 

Spoke for the bill:    Terry Hulld, CEO, Utah Certified Nursing Assistant Training Centers

                                 Laura Anderson, Mother of Disabled Child

 

MOTION:  Sen. Knudson moved to pass the bill out favorably.  The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Okerlund and Sen. Stevenson absent for the vote.

 

 

 

2nd Sub. H.B.  268      Dangerous Weapons Amendments   (B. Greene)

 

Rep. Green explained the bill to the committee.

 

MOTION:  Sen. Reid  moved to pass the bill out favorably.  The motion passed with Sen. Jones voting in opposition to the bill and Sen. Stevenson and Sen. Okerlund absent for the vote.

 

MOTION:   Sen. Reid moved to adjourn.  The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Stevenson and Sen. Okerlund absent for the vote.

 

Chair Osmond adjourned the meeting at 9:35 a.m.
