Chair Last called the meeting to order at 2:12 p.m.


MOTION:     Rep. Moss moved to approve the minutes of the February 2, 2015 meeting. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Gibson, Rep. Hutchings and Rep. Noel absent for the vote.

 

H.B. 163         Student Data Breach Requirements (Rep. J. Knotwell)


Rep. Knotwell explained the bill to the committee.


Mr. Michael Anderson, Jordan School District, spoke for the bill.


MOTION:     Rep. Eliason moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Gibson, Rep. Hutchings, and Rep. Noel absent for the vote.



 

 

H.B. 124         Education Background Check Amendments (Rep. S. Handy)


Rep. Handy explained the bill to the committee with the assistance of Mr. Rodney Rose, Davis School District, and distributed the handout "Analysis by Dr. Patti Harrington, Utah Superintendents/Business Association 1/31/15."


MOTION:     Rep. Lifferth moved to amend the bill as follows:

 

1.    Page 24, Lines 732 through 733:    

 

732 After the conclusion of the 2018-2019 school year,  subject to the prioritization of the Legislative Audit Subcommittee,  the Legislative Auditor General

733shall conduct a review and issue a report on the extent to which the criminal background check

The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Gibson, Rep. Hutchings, and Rep. Moss absent for the vote.

 

MOTION:     Rep. Poulson moved to pass the bill out favorably as amended. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Gibson, Rep. Hutchings, and Rep. Moss absent for the vote.

 

Vice Chair Snow assumed the chair.

 

H.B. 119         Charter School Finance Amendments (Rep. B. Last)

Rep. Anderegg explained the bill to the committee.

 

MOTION:     Rep. Snow moved to replace H.B. 68 with 1st Sub. H.B. 68. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Noel absent for the vote.

 

MOTION:     Rep. Lifferth moved to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Noel absent for the vote. Chair Last adjourned the meeting at 3:55 p.m.
