Chair Henderson called the meeting to order at 4:15 p.m.

 

MOTION:  Sen. Harper moved to approve the minutes of the January 29, 2015 meeting. The motion passed unanimously.   

 

S.B. 94         Corporate Franchise and Income Tax Amendments (Sen. H. Stephenson)

 

Sen. Stephenson explained the bill to the committee.

 

Spoke to the bill:                     Steve Young, Tax Attorney, Holland and Hart Law Firm

                     John Valentine, Commissioner, Utah State Tax Commission

 

MOTION:   Sen. Stephenson moved S.B. 94 be replaced with 1st Sub. S.B. 94. The motion passed unanimously.

 

MOTION:  Sen. Harper moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed with Sen. Dabakis voting in opposition.

 

S.J.R 6         Joint Resolution Urging Congress to Support Equity and Sales Tax Fairness (Sen. W. Harper)

 

Sen. Harper explained the bill to the committee.

 

Spoke to the bill:                     Dave Davis, President, Utah Food Industry Association, Utah Retailers Merchants Association

                                 John Valentine, Commissioner, Utah State Tax Commission

 

Spoke against the bill:             Jonathan Johnson, Executive Vice Chairman, Overstock.com          

 

MOTION:  Sen. Dabakis moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously.

 

MOTION:   Sen. Dabakis moved to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously.
