Chair Millner called the meeting to order at 4:25 p.m.

 

MOTION:  Sen. Osmond moved to approve the minutes of the February 17, 2015 meeting.  The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Stephenson and Sen. Urquhart absent for the vote.    

 

H.B. 123      Tuition and Fees Assistance for Utah National Guard Members (Rep. V. Peterson)

 

Rep. Peterson explained the bill to the committee.   

 

MOTION:  Sen. Osmond moved to pass the bill out favorably.  The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Stephenson and Sen. Urquhart absent for the vote.    

 

MOTION:  Sen. Osmond moved to place the bill on the Consent Calendar.  The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Stephenson and Sen. Urquhart absent for the vote.    

 

H.B. 128      Maintenance of Student Records (Rep. G. Froerer)

 

Rep. Froerer explained the bill to the committee.

 

Spoke to the bill:         Dr. Judy W. Park, Associate Superintendent, Utah State Office of Education

 

           

 

Spoke against the bill:             Mr. Peter Cannon, citizen      

 

MOTION:  Sen. Dabakis moved to pass the bill out favorably.  The motion passed with Sen. Madsen voting in opposition and Sen. Stephenson absent for the vote.

 

H.B. 163      Student Data Breach Requirements (Rep. J. Knotwell)

 

Rep. Knotwell explained the bill to the committee.

 

Spoke for the bill:       Mr. Mike Anderson, Jordan School District              

 

MOTION:  Sen. Osmond moved to pass the bill out favorably.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

MOTION:  Sen. Osmond moved to place the bill on the Consent Calendar.  The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Urquhart absent for the vote.

 

MOTION:  Sen. Dabakis moved to adjourn.  The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Urquhart absent for the vote.
