Chair Jenkins called the meeting to order at 4:06 p.m.

 

MOTION:   Sen. Christensen moved to approve the minutes of February 23, 2015.  The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Knudson and Sen. Shiozawa absent for the vote.

 

H.B. 140      Sovereign Lands Around Bear Lake (Rep. R.C.  Webb)

 

Rep. Webb explained the bill to the committee.  He distributed a related bills comparison sheet.

 

MOTION:   Sen. Christensen moved to amend the bill as follows:

1.   Page 4, Lines 102 through 105:   


                                102        (f)  travels in a motor vehicle parallel to the water's edge:

                               103        (i)  in areas designated by the division as closed;   {or} 

                                104        (ii)  a distance greater than one-half mile   {for purposes other than travel to or from a

                               105        beach site}  ;  or

                             (iii) for purposes other than travel to or from a beach site;   

 

 

The motion passed unanimously.

 

MOTION:   Sen. Christensen moved to amend the bill as follows:

1.         Page 4, Line 90: 


                               90          (c)   {from May 1 through October 31}   exceeds a speed limit of [15] 10 miles per hour

 

The motion passed win Sen. Dayton voting in opposition.

 

MOTION:   Sen. Christensen moved to adopt the following amendment:

 

1.         Page 4, Line 104:


                               104        (ii)  a distance greater than   {one-half mile}    500 yards   for purposes other than travel to
                             or from a

 

The motion failed with Sen. Christensen voting in favor of the amendment.

The motion failed with Sen. Dayton and Sen. Iwamoto voting in favor of the motion.

 

The original motion passed with Sen. Dayton and Sen. Iwamoto voting in opposition and Sen. Shiozawa absent for the vote.

 

MOTION:   Sen. Christensen moved to adjourn. 

 

Chair Jenkins adjourned the meeting at 10:00 a.m.
