Utah Prairie Dog Management Appropriation (Sen. E. Vickers)

 

Sen. Vickers explained the bill to the committee.

 

Spoke for the bill:       Mr. Greg Sheehan, Director, Utah Wildlife Resources

                                    Mr. Leland Pollock, Garfield County Commissioner

 

MOTION:   Sen. Dayton moved to pass the bill out favorably.  The motion passed unanimously.

Department of Environmental Quality Modifications (Sen. M. Dayton)

 

Sen. Dayton explained the bill to the committee.

Sen. Jenkins relinquished the chair to Sen. Christensen.

MOTION:   Sen. Dayton moved to pass the bill out favorably.  The motion passed with Sen. Iwamoto and Sen. Shiozawa voting in opposition.

Air Quality Amendments (Sen. L. Escamilla)

 

Sen. Escamilla explained the bill to the committee.  She distributed a handout entitled, “CARROT Program Summary.”

Spoke for the bill:       Ms. Tess Davis, Breathe Utah

 

MOTION:   Sen. Iwamoto moved to amend the bill as follows:

1.    Page 5, Lines 124 through 129:  


                                124        (c)  The department shall:

                                125        (i)  retain   up to  50% of the money collected from a civil penalty, minus the                       reimbursement as

                                126        described in Subsection (9)(b)  , but no more than $200,000 total may be retained by               the department per fiscal year  ; and

                                127               (ii)  use the money described in Subsection (9)(c)(i) for environmental remediation

                                128        efforts and programs described in Title 19, Chapter 2, Part 2, Clean Air Retrofit,                          Replacement,

                                129        and Off-Road Technology Program.

 

The motion passed unanimously.

 

MOTION:   Sen. Iwamoto moved to pass the amended bill out favorably. The motion passed with Sen. Dayton and Sen. Vickers voting in opposition.

Water Law - Application Revisions (Rep. V. Snow)

 

Rep. Snow explained the bill to the committee.  He distributed a handout explaining the bill.

 

MOTION:   Sen. Dayton moved to pass the bill out favorably.  The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Shiozawa absent for the vote.

 

MOTION:   Sen. Dayton moved to adjourn.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

Chair Jenkins adjourned the meeting at 9:55 a.m.
