Chair Jackson called the meeting to order at 4:09 p.m.

 

MOTION:  Sen. Hinkins moved to approve the minutes of the February 23, 2014 meeting.  The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Van Tassell absent for the vote.

 

S.B. 231       Transportation Amendments (W. Harper)

 

Sen. Harper explained the bill to the committee:

 

Spoke to the bill:         Linda Hull, Utah Department of Transportation

                                    Wayne Jones, Executive Director, Independent Auto Dealers

 

Spoke for the bill:       Kelsie White, Utah Taxpayers Association

 

Spoke against the bill:     George Chapman, citizen   

 

MOTION:  Sen. Van Tassell moved to pass the bill out favorably.  The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Mayne absent for the vote.

 

S.B.   237     Public Safety Amendments (W. Harper)

 

Sen. Harper explained the bill to the committee.

 

Spoke for the bill:       George Chapman, citizen

                                     Steve Proctor, Communications Authority

 

MOTION:   Sen.  Hinkins moved to pass the bill out favorably.  The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Mayne absent for the vote.

 

H.B.   110   2nd Sub.     Motor Vehicle Emissions Amendments (P. Arent)

 

Rep. Arent explained the bill to the committee and distributed a handout.

MOTION:   Sen. Van Tassell moved to pass the bill out favorably.  The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Mayne and Sen. Harper absent for the vote.

 

MOTION:   Sen. Hinkins moved to adjourn.  The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Harper and Sen. Mayne absent for the vote.
