Sen. Osmond assumed the Committee Chair and called the meeting to order at 8:07 a.m.

 

MOTION    Sen. Iwamoto moved to approve the minutes of the February 18, 2015 meeting.  The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Okerlund absent for the vote.

 

S.C.R.   7     Concurrent Resolution Regarding a Military Test Site in Western Utah   

                     (C. Bramble)

 

Sen. Bramble explained the bill to the committee.

 

Spoke for the bill:       Kim Christy, Deputy Director, Utah School & Institutional Trust Lands    

                                                           Administrator

                                    Aaron Garrett, School Children’ Trust Supervisor

                                    Mark Compton, Utah Mining Association

 

Spoke against the bill:      Steve Erickson, Utah-Nevada Water

 

MOTION:  Sen. Mayne moved to pass the bill out favorably.  The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Okerlund absent for the vote.

 

S.J.R.   15    Joint Resolution Encouraging Utah Workers Be Employed in the Prison Relocation Efforts (K. Mayne)

 

Sen. Mayne explained the bill to the committee.

 

MOTION:  Sen. Iwamoto moved to pass the bill out favorably.  The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Okerlund absent for the vote.

                                    (M Wheatley)

 

Rep Wheatley explained the bill to the committee.

MOTION:  Sen. Mayne moved to pass the bill out favorably.  The motion passed unanimously.
