Chair Henderson called the meeting to order at 8:13 a.m.

 

MOTION:  Sen. Bramble moved to approve the minutes of the February 12, 2016 meeting. The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Harper and Pres. Niederhauser absent for the vote.      

 

H.B. 23        Privilege Tax Amendments (Rep. J. Stanard)

 

Rep. Stanard explained the bill to the committee.

 

MOTION:   Sen. Stephenson moved H.B. 23 be replaced with 1st Sub. H.B. 23. The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Harper absent for the vote.

 

Spoke to the bill:                     Mr. John Valentine, Chairman, Utah State Tax Commission

 

MOTION:  Sen. Dabakis moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Harper absent for the vote.

 

S.B. 104       Amendments to Income Tax (Sen. J. Dabakis)

 

Sen. Dabakis explained the bill to the committee.

 

Spoke to the bill:                     Mr. Chase Thomas, Policy and Advocacy Associate Director, Alliance for a Better Utah

                                                Mr. John Valentine, Chairman, Utah State Tax Commission

Spoke against the bill:             Mr. Billy Hesterman, Vice President, Utah Taxpayers Association

 

MOTION:  Sen. Dabakis moved to pass the bill out favorably.

 

MOTION:   Sen. Bramble moved to adjourn. The motion passed with Sen. Dabakis voting in opposition.
