Chair Dayton called the meeting to order at 2:12 p.m.

 

Chair Dayton explained that S.B. 92, S.B. 48, S.B. 114, and S.B. 123 will not be heard today.

 

S.B. 119          Debt Collection Amendments (Sen. L. Hillyard)

Sen. Hillyard explained the bill to the committee.

MOTION:      Sen. Hillyard moved to pass the bill out favorably.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

MOTION:      Sen Hillyard moved to place S.B. 119 on the Consent Calendar.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

1st Sub. H.B. 98     National Guard Death Benefit Amendments (Rep. P. Ray)

Rep. Ray explained the bill to the committee with assistance from Major Aaron Drake, Utah National Guard.

MOTION:      Sen. Hinkins moved to pass the bill out favorably.  The motion passed unanimously.

H.B. 77     Special District Amendments (Rep. S. Handy)

Sen. Stevenson explained the bill to the committee with assistance from LeGrand Bitter, Executive Director, Utah Association of Special Districts.

 

MOTION:      Sen. Hillyard moved to amend the bill as follows:

1.         Page 3, Lines 62 through 64: 

                        62   (d)  A member of the board of trustees of a service area described in Subsection

                        63   17B-2a-905(2)(a) or (3)(a), who is an elected official of the county   {or municipality}   appointing

                        64   the individual, is not subject to the requirements described in Subsection (1)(a)(ii)  if the elected official was elected at large by the voters of the county  .

The motion passed unanimously.       

MOTION:      Sen. Hinkins moved to pass the bill out favorably as amended.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

1st Sub. H.B. 17 Assessment Area Foreclosure Amendments (Rep. R.C. Webb)

Rep. Webb explained the bill to the committee.

                        Cameron Deihl, Utah League of Cities and Towns

 

MOTION:                  Sen. Thatcher moved to pass the bill out favorably.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

 

MOTION:                  Sen. Hinkins moved to adjourn.  The motion passed unanimously.
