Chair Madsen called the meeting to order at 4:14 p.m.

 

MOTION:  Sen. Hillyard moved to approve the minutes of the February 23, 2016 and February 25, 2016 meetings. The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Escamilla, Sen. Weiler and Sen. Thatcher absent for the vote.    

 

H.B. 114      Controlled Substance Reporting (Rep. R. Ward)

 

Rep. Ward explained the bill to the committee.

MOTION:  Sen. Escamilla moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Thatcher absent for the vote.

 

S.B. 206       Cohabitant Abuse Procedures Act Revisions (Sen. L. Hillyard)

 

MOTION:   Sen. Hillyard moved S.B. 206 be replaced with 1st Sub. S.B. 206. The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Urquhart and Sen. Thatcher absent for the vote.

 

Sen. Hillyard explained the bill to the committee.

MOTION:  Sen. Weiler moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously.

 

 

MOTION:   Sen. Hillyard moved to place the bill on the Consent Calendar. The motion passed unanimously.

 

S.B. 213       Small Claims Court Amendments (Sen. T. Weiler)

 

MOTION:   Sen. Weiler moved S.B. 213 be replaced with 1st Sub. 213. The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Escamilla, Sen. Urquhart and Sen. Thatcher absent for the vote.

 

Sen. Weiler explained the bill to the committee.

 

MOTION:  Sen. Weiler moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Hillyard and Sen. Thatcher absent for the vote.

 

S.B. 215       Motor Vehicle Insurance Amendments (Sen. S. Urquhart)

 

Sen. Urquhart explained the bill to the committee.

S.B. 218       Department of Corrections Amendments (Sen. L. Fillmore)

 

MOTION:   Sen. Weiler moved to amend the bill as follows:

I.                    Page 1, Line 13:         


             13             repeals language regarding work release programs  , including reference to trusty status  ;


 

2.         Page 2, Line 31: 


             31        64-13-30, as last amended by Laws of Utah 2010, Chapter 386

  REPEALS:

       64-13-14.6, as last amended by Laws of Utah 2004, Chapter 274    


 

3.         Page 9, Line 254:


                                       254 is confidential.

                                    Section 7.  Repealer.

                                    This bill repeals:

                                    Section 64-13-14.6, Inmate trusty status. 

 

The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Hillyard and Sen. Thatcher absent for the vote.

S.B. 220       Non-judicial Foreclosure Amendments (Sen. W. Harper)

 

MOTION:   Sen. Weiler moved to amend the bill as follows:

1.         Page 9, Lines 260 through 262: 


                                       260        (c)  No [other] notice of the postponed sale in addition to the notice described in

                                       261 Subsection (2)(b) is required, unless the postponement [exceeds 45 days. In that event,] is for

                                    262 longer than   {three months}    45 days   after the date designated in the original notice of sale.

 

The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Hillyard and Sen. Thatcher absent for the vote.
