Chair Bramble called the meeting to order at 4:28 p.m.

 

MOTION:  Sen. Adams moved to approve the minutes of the March 3, 2016, meeting.  The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Mayne, Sen. Okerlund, and Sen. Weiler  absent for the vote.    

 

S.B.   253        Animal Shelter Revisions (G. Davis)

 

Sen. Davis explained the bill to the committee.

MOTION:   Sen. Weiler moved to adopt 2nd Sub. H.B. 85, Attorney Fee Revisions (B. Greene). The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Adams, Sen. Mayne, and Sen. Okerlund absent for the vote.

 

MOTION:  Sen. Weiler moved to pass the bill out favorably.  The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Adams, Sen. Mayne, and Sen. Okerlund absent for the vote.

 

H.B.  298     2nd Sub.    Lawful Commerce in Arms (J. Fawson)

 

MOTION:  Sen. Weiler moved to adopt 4th Sub. H.B. 298, Lawful Commerce in Arms (Fawson – Bramble). The motion passed with Sen. Adams and Sen. Mayne absent for the vote.

 

MOTION:  Sen. Weiler moved to adopt the following amendments:

1.    Page 4, Lines 93 through 96:

           


                                93          (1)  A manufacturer or seller of a qualified product, or trade association, is not subject

                      94   to  a qualified   civil liability  action   regarding the unlawful misuse of a qualified product

                             unless   an injury or death

                                95   results from an act or omission of the manufacturer, seller, or trade association that constitutes

                                96   gross negligence, recklessness, or intentional misconduct.

 

The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Adams and Sen. Mayne absent for the vote.

MOTION:  Sen. Okerlund moved to pass the bill out favorably.  The motion passed

                     unanimously.

 

MOTION:  Sen. Adams moved to place the bill on the Consent Calendar.  The motion passed unanimously.

MOTION:  Sen. Mayne moved to adopt 5th Sub. H.B. 251.The motion passed unanimously

                     with Sen. Bramble and Sen. Okerlund absent for the vote.
