Chair Bramble called the meeting to order at 4:21 p.m. He announced that S.B. 174 Salvage Vehicle Purchaser Amendments (C. Bramble) will be referred to Interim Study and that, at the request of the sponsor, S.B. 241 Public Accommodation Fairness Act (J. Dabakis) will not be heard today.
MOTION: Sen. Weiler moved to approve the minutes
of the February 29, 2016 meeting. The
motion passed unanimously with Sen. Davis, Sen. Henderson and Sen. Mayne absent for the vote.
S.B. 240 Public Accommodations Amendments (J. Dabakis)
Sen. Dabakis explained the bill to the committee.
Marina Lowe, American Civil Liberties Union, further explained the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Weiler moved to amend the bill as follows:

Page 2, Line 49:
49 (4) "Sex" means gender and includes pregnancy , childbirth, and
lactation.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Henderson absent for the vote.
MOTION: Sen. Davis moved to pass the bill out favorably as amended. The motion failed with Sen. Davis and Sen. Mayne voting in favor of the bill, Sen. Bramble and Sen. Weiler voting in opposition and Sen. Henderson absent for the vote.
Sen. Davis assumed the committee chair.

Sen. Bramble explained the bill to the committee.
MOTION: Sen. Bramble moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously.
MOTION: Sen. Bramble moved to place the bill on the Consent Calendar. The motion passed unanimously.
MOTION: Sen.Weiler moved to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously.
Acting Chair Davis adjourned the meeting at 4:45 p.m.
