Chair Millner called the meeting to order at 8:14 a.m.


1. S.B. 186 Education Reporting Amendments (Fillmore, L.)


Sen. Lincoln Fillmore explained the bill.


Ms. Angie Stallings, Deputy Superintendent, Utah State Board of Education spoke to the bill.

 

MOTION:     Sen. Henderson moved to pass S.B. 186 out favorably. The motion passed with a vote of 4-0-3.

2. S.B. 190 Education Computing Pathways (Okerlund, R.)


Sen. Ralph Okerlund explained the bill.

 

MOTION:     Sen. Iwamoto moved to amend S.B. 190 with Amendment #1.

1.    Page 3, Lines 84 through 86:   

 

84   (c) supporting activities that promote and enhance access, diversity, and equity;

85   (d) supporting collaborations and partnerships between K-12,

  institutions of  
higher education,

86cultural and community partners, and industry representatives;

 

2.    Page 4, Lines 94 through 98:   

 

94   (a) rigorous and relevant metrics that are shared by all grant participants;

  and  

95   (b) an evaluation by the STEM Action Center of the grant program that identifies best

96practices
