STANDING COMMITTEE

Chair Millner called the meeting to order at 2:09 p.m.

MOTION:     Sen. Iwamoto moved to approve the minutes of February 13, 2017. The motion passed unanimously.

1. H.B. 62 Educator Rights Amendments (Stratton, K.)

Rep. Keven J. Stratton explained the bill.

MOTION:     Sen. Henderson moved to pass H.B. 62 out favorably. The motion passed with a vote of 5-0-2.

2. H.B. 125 Student Residency Amendments (Owens, D.)

Rep. Derrin R. Owens presented the bill with the assistance of Ms. Angie Stallings, Deputy Superintendent, Utah State Board of Education.

Ms. Carol Lear, State School Board member spoke to the bill.

MOTION:     Sen. Stephenson moved to pass H.B. 125 out favorably. The motion passed with a vote of 4-0-3.

3. H.B. 35 Minimum School Program Amendments (Cutler, B. R.)

Rep. Bruce R. Cutler explained the bill and distributed a handout entitled, "Teacher Salary Supplement Program."

Ms. Angie Stallings, Deputy Superintendent, Utah State Board of Education spoke to the bill.

MOTION:     Sen. Stephenson moved to pass H.B. 35 out favorably. The motion passed with a vote of 4-0-3.

4. 1st Sub. H.B. 209 Administration of Medication to Students Amendment (McKell, M.)

Rep. Mike K. McKell explained the bill.

MOTION:     Sen. Henderson moved to pass 1st Substitute H.B. 209 out favorably. The motion passed with a vote of 4-0-3.

MOTION:     Sen. Iwamoto moved to place 1st Substitute H.B. 209 on the Consent Calendar. The motion passed with a vote of 4-0-3.

MOTION:     Sen. Iwamoto moved to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously.

Chair Millner adjourned the meeting at 2:55 p.m.
