1. H.B. 212 Incentive for Effective Teachers in High Poverty Schools (Winder, M.)


Rep. Mike Winder explained the bill.

 

MOTION:     Rep. Owens moved to replace H.B. 212 with 2nd Substitute H.B. 212. The motion passed with a vote of 8-0-6.

MOTION:     Rep. Owens moved to pass 2nd Substitute H.B. 212 out favorably.

 

SUBSTITUTE MOTION:   Rep. Coleman moved to amend 2nd Substitute H.B. 212 with Amendment #1.

1.    Page 14, Lines 398 through 407:    

 

398 (c) "Eligible teacher" means a teacher who:

399 (i) is employed as a teacher in a high poverty school at the time the teacher is

400considered by the board for a salary bonus; and

401 (ii) achieves a median growth percentile of 70 or higher:

402 (A) a full school year before the school year the eligible teacher is being considered by

403the board for a salary bonus under this section, regardless of whether the teacher was employed

404the previous school year by a high poverty school or a different

 (ii) a local school within a school district that enters negotiated employment agreements that allow for differentiated pay for teaching positions identified by the school district as hard to fill.
