Chair Pitcher called the meeting to order at 4:25 p.m

 

MOTION:     Rep. Potter moved to approve the minutes of the February 27, 2017, meeting. The motion passed with a vote of 8-0-5.

1. H.B. 429 County Fund Amendments (Hemingway, L.)


Rep. Hemingway explained the bill with the assistance of Mr. Jeff Silvestrini, Mayor, Millcreek City.


Mr. Paul Ashton, attorney, spoke in favor of the bill.


Mr. Brandon Smith, Legislative Research Analyst, Utah League of City and Towns, spoke in favor of the bill.

 

MOTION:     Rep. Poulson moved to amend H.B. 429 with Amendment #1 as follows:

 

1.    Page 1, Lines 17 through 18:

  This bill provides a special effective date.  

 

2.    Page 3, Line 79:  

 

79   (b) may levy the annual property tax until the bonds' maturity dates expire.

       

  Section 3. Effective date. 

       

 If approved by two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, this bill takes effect upon approval by the governor, or the day following the constitutional time limit of Utah Constitution, Article VII, Section 8, without the governor's signature, or in the case of a veto, the date of veto override.  

 

The motion passed with a vote of 12-0-1.
