1. S.B. 196 Health Education Amendments (Adams, J. S.)


Sen. J. Stuart Adams explained the bill.


Ms. Angie Stallings, Deputy Superintendent of Policy and Communication, spoke to the bill.


Mr. Spencer Brown, student, Utah Academy of Science, spoke in opposition to the bill.

MOTION:     Rep. Thurston moved to amend S.B. 196 with Amendment #4.

 

1.    Page 1, Lines 11 through 14:   

 

11   This bill:

12         repeals language prohibiting the advocacy of homosexuality in health instruction;

 ► prohibits instruction that advocates premarital or extramarital sexual activity; and  

14         makes technical corrections.

MOTION:     Rep. Miles moved to replace S.B. 261 with 1st Substitute S.B. 261. The motion passed with a vote of 11-0-1.
