2. Summary of Previous Meetings

During the September 13, 2017, School Leadership Meeting, the committee and other participants discussed options for principal preparation, the Utah Educational Leadership Standards, and principal residencies. Participants will hear about the results of that meeting.

3. Practices of Effective School Principals

Participants will hear about the importance of professional learning for principals and the Wallace Foundation’s five key characteristics of effective principals.

4. Ongoing Professional Learning for Principals: Leadership Academies

Participants will hear about leadership academies and how they encourage the practice of effective principals. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss what already exists in Utah and what is missing.

5. Ongoing Professional Learning for Principals: Coaching and Mentoring

Participants will hear about coaching and day-to-day development of effective principals. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss what already exists in Utah and what is missing.
