      1.      Commission Business

                         Call to order

                         Approval of the minutes of the October 24, 2017, meeting

                      

      2.      Draft Bill, “Veterans and Military Affairs Amendments”

In the August 22 meeting, the commission passed a motion to have a bill file opened to prepare legislation for the 2018 General Session. Currently, the bill, to be sent to commission members prior to the meeting, is being drafted to clarify that terms for certain commission members begins July 1 of the year of appointment. The bill also corrects the use of apostrophes with the word "veteran" throughout the code. 

                      

      3.      National Ability Center 

The National Ability Center (NAC) states its mission is “to empower individuals of all abilities by building self-esteem, confidence, and lifetime skills through sport, recreation, and educational programs.” It claims that “at least 30% of all those served by the NAC are servicemembers or veterans and their families” and is seeking support for funding from the Utah Legislature to expand its services. Its services include indoor/outdoor facilities in Park City.
