2.        Licensure Overview: Department of Agriculture and Food

Utah Code Subsection 36-23-109(2) requires the committee to study and make recommendations regarding lawful occupations that require a license in the state so that each licensed lawful occupation is reviewed every ten years. As part of that review process, the Department of Agriculture and Food will provide information about the licenses that the department issues.

3.        Licensure Overview: Department of Health

Utah Code Subsection 36-23-109(2) requires the committee to study and make recommendations regarding lawful occupations that require a license in the state so that each licensed lawful occupation is reviewed every ten years. 4.        Draft Legislation “License Hold for Military Service”

The committee will consider draft legislation that requires the Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing to waive the fee for the renewal of an inactive license, if the licensee is on full-time active duty with a branch of the armed forces.

5.        Military Spouse Professional Licensure

Utah Code Subsection 58-1-307(1)(j) permits the spouse of an individual serving in the armed forces to engage in the practice of their occupation or profession, subject to the stated circumstances and limitations, without being licensed under Title 58, Occupations and Professions. The committee will discuss expanding this provision to all occupational and professional licenses that are listed in other titles of the Utah Code.

6.        Occupational Licensing: Assessing State Policy and Practice

The state was accepted into a national occupational licensing policy learning consortium with ten other states. This two-year project, entitled “Occupational Licensing: Assessing State Policy and Practice,” will create a state action plan to improve portability and reciprocity for select occupations and remove barriers to labor market entry. The first of three multi-state team meetings recently concluded. The state’s recent activities will be reported on.

7.        Apprenticeships

The committee will hear information about apprenticeships as an alternate path to licensing.

The committee will hear information about whether a bowenwork practitioner should be exempt from being required to hold a massage therapy license to practice bowenwork.

9.        Animal Husbandry Dental Exemption

The committee will hear information about whether a person should be a licensed veterinarian to engage in animal husbandry dental work, with a focus given to equine dentistry.
