In the July meeting, the Committee discussed issues relating to diversity in Utah's legal profession, particularly diversity on Utah's bench. The Committee will continue its discussion.

25 min      3.    Change of Legal Gender

2018 General Session 4th Sub. S.B. 138, "Sex Change Amendments" [bill did NOT pass], would have addressed a process for legally changing an individual's legal gender. The Committee will discuss issues relating to this topic.

25 min      6.    Campus Sexual Violence Reporting and Due Process

2018 General Session 1st Sub. H.B. 254, "Campus Sexual Violence Reporting " [bill did NOT pass], would have enacted provisions relating to reports of sexual violence at postsecondary institutions. The Committee will discuss issues relating to this topic.

25 min      7.    Administrative Law Judges

Utah Code Title 67, Chapter 19e, Administrative Law Judges, gives the Department of Human Resource Management duties for some oversight of administrative law judges (ALJs), with some exceptions. The Committee will explore issues relating to ALJs and their ability to make fair decisions independent from the agency for which they work.
