2018 General Session 1st Sub. H.B. 254, "Campus Sexual Violence Reporting " [bill did NOT pass], would have enacted provisions relating to reports of sexual violence at postsecondary institutions. The Committee will discuss issues relating to this topic.

Utah Code Title 67, Chapter 19e, Administrative Law Judges, gives the Department of Human Resource Management (DHRM) duties for some oversight of administrative law judges (ALJs), with some exceptions. The Committee will explore issues relating to ALJs and their ability to make fair decisions independent from the agency for which they work.

In June, the courts implemented a new pretrial risk assessment tool known as the PSA. The Administrative Office of the Courts will explain the PSA and how the use of the PSA augments the judge's pretrial release decision.

Utah Code §62A-15-103 requires the Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health to collaborate with the Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice (CCJJ) in analyzing data and providing recommendations. CCJJ compiles a report of findings based on data submitted by the division and other agencies. The highlights from the 'JRI 3rd Annual Report' will be presented.
