3.    Stray Current and Voltage Impacts to Livestock Review & Intermountain Power Plant’s Coal Usage

The committee will hear from Intermountain Power Agency (IPA) as the committee reviews industry standards and peer reviewed research regarding levels of stray current and voltage and impacts to livestock in accordance with Utah Code Section 54-22-204. Additionally, the committee will hear from IPA about its potential usage of out-of-state coal.

4.     UAMPS and the Carbon Free Power Project

The committee will hear an update from the Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems (UAMPS) on the status of the Carbon Free Power Project.

5.     2019-15 - A Performance Audit of Utah Communications Authority and 911 Operations  

During its December 13, 2019 meeting, the Legislative Audit Subcommittee referred “A Performance Audit of Utah Communications Authority and 911 Operations (Report #2019-15)” to the Public Utilities, Energy, and Technology Interim Committee (PUETIC) as one of the review committees for the audit report. The Legislative Audit Subcommittee has requested that the PUETIC report back to the Subcommittee with any conclusion(s) it reaches with a summary of the reasons for reaching the conclusion(s).The PUETIC will hear a review of the audit report from Legislative Auditor General staff, along with any updates since the audit was first released, and determine any action the PUETIC does or does not want to take.

6.     2020-06 - An In-Depth Follow-Up of 911 Audits and Review of 911 Staffing (OLAG) and Matrix Consulting Group’s 2019 Performance Audit of SLC 911 (Salt Lake City)

During its August 18, 2020 meeting, the Legislative Audit Subcommittee referred “An In-Depth Follow-Up of 911 Audits and Review of 911 Staffing (2020-06)” to the Public Utilities, Energy, and Technology Interim Committee (PUETIC) as one of the review committees for the audit report. The Legislative Audit Subcommittee has requested that the PUETIC report back to the Subcommittee with any conclusion(s) it reaches with a summary of the reasons for reaching the conclusion(s).The PUETIC will hear a review of the audit report from Legislative Auditor General staff, along with any updates since the audit was first released, and determine any action the PUETIC does or does not want to take. Additionally, the committee will hear from a public safety advocate about a separate audit report commissioned by Salt Lake City in 2019 regarding the Salt Lake City 911 Center’s public safety emergency and non-emergency dispatch services.
