2.      Higher Education Performance Funding

The Legislature will receive an update on the status of S.B. 193 Higher Education Performance Funding from the 2021 General Session.

3.    Sunset Review: Juvenile Justice

Utah Code Section 53G-8-211(5) provides that a school district or school may refer a minor to a court or a law enforcement officer or agency for an alleged class C misdemeanor committed on school property, or for allegedly being a habitual truant, under certain circumstances. Without legislative action, this section will repeal on July 1, 2022. The Legislative Management Committee has assigned a sunset review of this statute to the Education Interim Committee.

4.    Sunset Review: State Instructional Review Commission

Utah Code Section 53E-4-402 creates the State Instructional Materials Commission. Without legislative action, this section will repeal on July 1, 2022. The Legislative Management Committee has assigned a sunset review of this statute to the Education Interim Committee.

5.    Sunset Review: Hospitality and Tourism Management Career and Technical Education Pilot Program

Utah Code Section 53E-3-515 creates the Hospitality and Tourism Management Career and Technical Education Pilot Program. Utah Code Section 53F-9-501 establishes the Hospitality and Tourism Management Education Account. Without legislative action, these sections will repeal on January 1, 2023. The Legislative Management Committee has assigned a sunset review of these statutes to the Education Interim Committee.

6.    School Curriculum Transparency

The committee will discuss options for increasing public education school curriculum transparency.
