The Committee of Consumer Services is currently set to be repealed on July 1, 2025. The committee will hear from the Office to review the repeal and determine if reauthorization is necessary.

3.    Report from Curio: Nuclear Fuel Recycling 1:35 – 2:15PM

Curio is a private company focused on commercializing the recycling of used nuclear fuel to power modern day reactors. The committee will hear from the CEO an overview of the company vision, specifications of the technology, and how it may benefit the nuclear industry.

4.    Report from OED: Nuclear Pathway 2:15 – 2:45PM

Recently, the Office of Energy Development released a series of documents that outline Utah’s strategic nuclear energy pathway.

5.    Required Report: Utah Broadband Center 2:45 – 3:15PM

Section 63N-17-203 states the Broadband Center is required to report to the Public Utilities, Energy, & Technology Interim Committee regarding status updates of the broadband strategic plan by October 1, annually.

6.    Required Report: Division of Technology Services 3:15 – 3:45PM

Section 63A-16-108 states the Chief Information Officer is required to report on the progress of creating a pilot program for the implementation of digital verifiable credentials by governmental entities to the Public Utilities, Energy, & Technology Interim Committee by October 31, 2023. The CIO will also briefly discuss items related to cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.
