2.    Statutorily Required Report: Energy Balancing Account 1:15 – 1:30PM

Section 54-7-13.5 requires an electrical corporation that has established an energy balancing account to report to the committee by December 1 of even-numbered years. The electrical corporation is required to report on the “continued 100% recovery of the electrical corporation’s prudently incurred costs related to the energy balancing account and any determination by the commission of costs not prudently incurred.”

3.    Status Report: Green River Energy Center 1:30 – 1:45PM

The Green River Energy Center is an 800-megawatt combined solar + storage project in Emery County that broke ground just recently. The project is currently the largest planned solar plus storage facility in Utah and one of the largest facilities in the PacifiCorp system. The committee will hear a status report on the project.

4.    Presentation: W2e Technology 1:45 – 2:00PM

W2e Technology is focused on commercializing a “waste-to-energy” technology capable of vaporizing energy-rich material (plastic, tires, & coal) into hydrogen and food-grade carbon dioxide. The committee will hear a presentation from the company explaining the mission and process of this technology.

5.    Presentation: Grid Enhancing Technologies 2:00 – 2:15PM

The Energy Modernization Project with the Pew Charitable Trust will present on advanced transmission technologies and possible state policy options to facilitate modernizing the grid to meet growing electricity demands.

6.    Statutorily Required Report: Grid Resilience Committee 2:15 – 2:30PM

Section 53-2a-1503 requires the Grid Resilience Committee to report to the PUET committee annually, on or before November 30, with recommendations regarding grid resilience and enhancing critical infrastructure.

7.    Statutorily Required Report: Utility Bill Assistance Program 2:30 – 2:45PM

Section 54-4-42 requires the Division of Public Utilities to report the PUET committee annually, on or before November 30, on the status of the program.

8.    Statutorily Required Report: Tax Credits 2:45 – 2:50PM

Section 79-6—505 requires the Office of Energy Development to report to the PUET committee annually on the status of the Alternative Energy Development Tax Credit and Section 79-6-605 requires the Office of Energy development to report to the PUET committee on the status of the High Cost Infrastructure Development Tax Credit.

Section 79-6-401 requires the Office of Energy Development to report to the PUET committee on or before the October interim hearing describing a status update on the plan.

The committee will hear a presentation regarding key components of Rep. Jack’s Energy Education Amendments bill.

HiTech specializes in eliminating critical gaps to keep nuclear power plants running safely and efficiently. The committee will hear a presentation about the company.
