2.    Education Interim Committee 2025 Study Items and Interim Preparation

The committee will review study items approved by the Legislative Management Committee for the Education Interim Committee’s 2025 meetings and adopt the study items list.

 

3.    Legislative Audit: OpenEd Program

The committee will hear a presentation about and responses to audit 2024-24, “A Performance Audit of the OpenEd Program Reviewing Educational Service Provider Funding and Improving Oversight.”

4.    Public Education: Local Education Agency Employee Disciplinary Action

The committee will review the Utah State Board of Education’s processes for addressing disciplinary action, including the Utah Professional Practices Advisory Commission (UPPAC). Local education agencies will also speak about their processes for managing allegations of improper conduct and staff and employee disciplinary action.

5.    Higher Education: Institutional Statements Acknowledging Relationships with Tribes and Ancestral Lands

On March 27, 2025, the Utah Board of Higher Education approved R252, Institutional Statements Acknowledging Relationships with Tribes and Ancestral Lands. The Commissioner of Higher Education will update the committee on this rule.
