·         Call to order and approval of the minutes of the June 18, 2025, meeting

 

2.    Draft Legislation: “Judiciary Amendments”

The committee will consider draft legislation for a potential special session that provides that the governor shall appoint, subject to Senate confirmation, a chief justice of the Utah Supreme Court when a vacancy occurs. It also modifies the term of office for chief justice, among other changes.

3.    Tribal Identification in Utah Elections

The committee will hear presentations on ways to improve the accessibility of Utah’s elections for tribal communities, such as amending how tribal IDs may be used to verify voter information.

4.    Domestic Violence (DV) Risk Assessment Tools

The committee will hear presentations on DV risk assessment tools and their potential application in pretrial release decisions and other criminal justice contexts.
