2.    Cybersecurity Standards for Local Education Agencies

Utah Code Section 53-22-104.1 (created by H.B. 40, 2025 General Session) requires the School Security Task Force to study possible recommendations for minimum cybersecurity standards for local education agencies. The Task Force will hear presentations from various entities about cybersecurity issues at local education agencies.

·         David Bowman, Systems and Security Manager, Jordan School District, and Utah Technology Coordinators Council

·         Phil Bates, Chief Information Security Officer

 

3.    Campus Safety

The Task Force will hear a presentation about issues related to school safety and campus safety at institutions of higher education. This is a continuation of an agenda item from the July 14, 2025, meeting.

4.    School Safety Center Updates

Representatives from the Utah State Board of Education and the School Safety Center will update the Task Force on recent developments.

5.    School Safety Updates from the School Security Task Force

Members of the School Security Task Force will provide information about how implementation of school safety legislation is proceeding and share other school safety issues that the Task Force may want to consider.

Additional updates on and discussion about school safety issues and the Task Force’s responsibilities.
