2.    Education Interim Committee 2026 Study Items, Sunsets, and Audits

The committee will review study items approved by the Legislative Management Committee for the Education Interim Committee’s 2026 meetings and adopt the study items list. The committee will also receive an overview of sunsets and anticipated audits.

3.    Advanced Placement (AP) Credit vs. Concurrent Enrollment Alignment

The committee will hear from the Utah System of Higher Education and the Utah State Board of Education on current policies and practices related to advanced placement credit and concurrent enrollment classes, the transferability of college credits across institutions within the system, and how to better align credit recognition policies across institutions of higher education.

4.    Credit Hours

The committee will hear from the Utah System of Higher Education and the Utah State Board of Education on credit hour requirements for degrees or licenses, such as educator licenses, that require more than 120 credit hours.

5.    Teacher Licensing

The committee will hear from the Utah System of Higher Education and the Utah State Board of Education on current teacher licensing practices and whether a subject matter bachelor's degree, such as math, history, engineering, etc., and a master’s in education should qualify for a full Professional Educator License in Utah.
