1.    Committee Business

2.    Adoption of Study Items

The committee will review proposed interim study items for the 2026 Business and Labor Interim Committee, may modify the study item list, and will adopt the study item list.

3.    Sunset Review: Workers' Compensation Advisory Council

Absent further action by the Legislature, Utah Code Ann. § 34A-1-202(2)(b)(i) and Utah Code Ann. § 34A-2-107 establishing the Worker’s Compensation Advisory Council, will be repealed on July 1, 2027. The committee will conduct a sunset review of the statute and determine if it should be reauthorized for up to 10 years, with or without amendments, permanently retained, or allowed to expire.

4.    Sunset Review: Alarm System and Security Licensing Advisory Board

Absent further action by the Legislature, Utah Code Ann., Title 58, Chapter 94, Part 201 establishing the Alarm System and Security Licensing Advisory Board, will be repealed on July 1, 2027. The committee will conduct a sunset review of the statute and determine if it should be reauthorized, with or without amendments, permanently retained, or allowed to expire.

5.    OPLR Annual Review: Initial Findings

The committee will receive a presentation from the Office of Professional Licensure Review detailing preliminary findings from their annual review on healthcare licenses and their planned work on minor surgical procedures, med spas, and wellness clinics.

6.    Currency Availability

In 2025, the U.S. Mint suspended production of new pennies due to rising costs of production and materials. While pennies remain legal tender and valid currency for transaction, the decrease in circulation of pennies has created shortages at banks and retail establishments. The committee will hear presentations from staff and stakeholders outlining how the availability of pennies has impacted local businesses and state entities and determine whether legislative changes are necessary to address ongoing issues.
