and</hl><hl numlevel="1" lineno="13" slineno="0-13" level="2">requires a registered political party, or an unaffiliated candidate or a write-in candidate <ln numlevel="1" lineno="14" slineno="0-14"/>for president of the United States, to notify the lieutenant governor if a vacancy <ln numlevel="1" lineno="15" slineno="0-15"/>occurs in the office of a presidential elector; </hl></hl><hl numlevel="1" lineno="16" slineno="0-16" level="1">standardizes the deadlines to file a declaration of candidacy for the office of vice <ln numlevel="1" lineno="17" slineno="0-17"/>president of the United States and to choose presidential electors; Section <bold>20A-4-306</bold> is amended to read:</secline><catline lineno="35"><bold>20A-4-306<parens/>. Statewide canvass.</bold></catline><subsection ssid="1-null-1" dnum="1-o" numlevel="1" lineno="36" slineno="1-3" level="1" placement="noreturn" space="false"><display>(1)</display><subsection ssid="1-null-2" dnum="a-o" level="2" placement="sameline"><display>(a)</display>The state board of canvassers shall convene:<subsection ssid="1-null-3" dnum="i-o" numlevel="1" lineno="37" slineno="1-4" level="3" tab="1"><display>(i)</display>on the fourth Monday of November, at noon; or</subsection><subsection ssid="1-null-4" dnum="ii-o" numlevel="1" lineno="38" slineno="1-5" level="3" tab="1"><display>(ii)</display>at noon on the day following the day on which the lieutenant governor receives <ln numlevel="1" lineno="39" slineno="1-6"/>the last of the returns of a statewide special election.</subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="1-null-5" dnum="b-o" numlevel="1" lineno="40" slineno="1-7" level="2"><display>(b)</display>The state auditor, the state treasurer, and the attorney general are the state board of <ln numlevel="1" lineno="41" slineno="1-8"/>canvassers.</subsection><subsection ssid="1-null-6" dnum="c-o" numlevel="1" lineno="42" slineno="1-9" level="2"><display>(c)</display>Attendance of all members of the state board of canvassers is required to constitute a <ln numlevel="1" lineno="43" slineno="1-10"/>quorum for conducting the canvass.</subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="1-null-7" dnum="2-o" numlevel="1" lineno="44" slineno="1-11" level="1" space="false"><display>(2)</display><subsection ssid="1-null-8" dnum="a-o" level="2" placement="sameline"><display>(a)</display>The state board of canvassers shall:<subsection ssid="1-null-9" dnum="i-o" numlevel="1" lineno="45" slineno="1-12" level="3" tab="1"><display>(i)</display>meet in the lieutenant governor's office; and</subsection><subsection ssid="1-null-10" dnum="ii-o" numlevel="1" lineno="46" slineno="1-13" level="3" tab="1"><display>(ii)</display>compute and determine the vote for officers and for and against any ballot <ln numlevel="1" lineno="47" slineno="1-14"/>propositions voted upon by the voters of the entire state or of two or more <ln numlevel="1" lineno="48" slineno="1-15"/>counties.</subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="1-null-11" dnum="b-o" numlevel="1" lineno="49" slineno="1-16" level="2"><display>(b)</display>The lieutenant governor, as secretary of the board shall file a report in the lieutenant <ln numlevel="1" lineno="50" slineno="1-17"/>governor's office that details:<subsection ssid="1-null-12" dnum="i-o" numlevel="1" lineno="51" slineno="1-18" level="3"><display>(i)</display>for each statewide officer and ballot proposition:<subsection ssid="1-null-13" dnum="A-o" numlevel="1" lineno="52" slineno="1-19" level="4"><display>(A)</display>the name of the statewide office or ballot proposition that appeared on the <ln numlevel="1" lineno="53" slineno="1-20"/>ballot;</subsection><subsection ssid="1-null-14" dnum="B-o" numlevel="1" lineno="54" slineno="1-21" level="4"><display>(B)</display>the candidates for each statewide office whose names appeared on the ballot, <ln numlevel="1" lineno="55" slineno="1-22"/>plus any recorded write-in candidates;</subsection><subsection ssid="1-null-15" dnum="C-o" numlevel="1" lineno="56" slineno="1-23" level="4"><display>(C)</display>the number of votes from each county cast for each candidate and for and <ln numlevel="1" lineno="57" slineno="1-24"/>against each ballot proposition;</subsection><subsection ssid="1-null-16" dnum="D-o" numlevel="1" lineno="58" slineno="1-25" level="4"><display>(D)</display>the total number of votes cast statewide for each candidate and for and against <ln numlevel="1" lineno="59" slineno="1-26"/>each ballot proposition; and</subsection><subsection ssid="1-null-17" dnum="E-o" numlevel="1" lineno="60" slineno="1-27" level="4"><display>(E)</display>the total number of votes cast statewide; and</subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="1-null-18" dnum="ii-o" numlevel="1" lineno="61" slineno="1-28" level="3"><display>(ii)</display>for each officer or ballot proposition voted on in two or more counties:<subsection ssid="1-null-19" dnum="A-o" numlevel="1" lineno="62" slineno="1-29" level="4"><display>(A)</display>the name of each of those offices and ballot propositions that appeared on the <ln numlevel="1" lineno="63" slineno="1-30"/>ballot;</subsection><subsection ssid="1-null-20" dnum="B-o" numlevel="1" lineno="64" slineno="1-31" level="4"><display>(B)</display>the candidates for those offices, plus any recorded write-in candidates;</subsection><subsection ssid="1-null-21" dnum="C-o" numlevel="1" lineno="65" slineno="1-32" level="4"><display>(C)</display>the number of votes from each county cast for each candidate and for and <ln numlevel="1" lineno="66" slineno="1-33"/>against each ballot proposition; and</subsection><subsection ssid="1-null-22" dnum="D-o" numlevel="1" lineno="67" slineno="1-34" level="4"><display>(D)</display>the total number of votes cast for each candidate and for and against each <ln numlevel="1" lineno="68" slineno="1-35"/>ballot proposition.</subsection></subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="1-null-23" dnum="c-o" numlevel="1" lineno="69" slineno="1-36" level="2"><display>(c)</display>Except as provided in Subsection <xref depth="4" refnumber="20A-4-306(2)(d)">(2)(d)</xref>, the lieutenant governor shall:<subsection ssid="1-null-24" dnum="i-o" numlevel="1" lineno="70" slineno="1-37" level="3"><display>(i)</display>prepare certificates of election for:<subsection ssid="1-null-25" dnum="A-o" numlevel="1" lineno="71" slineno="1-38" level="4"><display>(A)</display>each successful candidate; and</subsection><subsection ssid="1-null-26" dnum="B-o" numlevel="1" lineno="72" slineno="1-39" level="4"><display>(B)</display><amendoutstart style="2"/><amend anum="0" ea="erase" pairid="5" groupid="5" style="2" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" deltag="both">each of the presidential electors of the candidate for president who received a <ln numlevel="1" lineno="73" slineno="1-40"/>majority of the votes</amend><amendoutend style="2"/><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="3" groupid="3" style="1" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" amendtag="both" space="true">in a presidential election, each presidential elector who is <ln numlevel="1" lineno="74" slineno="1-41"/>elected under Subsection <xref refnumber="11-21">20A-13-301(4)</xref></amend>;</subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="1-null-27" dnum="ii-o" numlevel="1" lineno="75" slineno="1-42" level="3"><display>(ii)</display>authenticate each certificate with the lieutenant governor's seal; and</subsection><subsection ssid="1-null-28" dnum="iii-o" numlevel="1" lineno="76" slineno="1-43" level="3"><display>(iii)</display>deliver a certificate of election to:<subsection ssid="1-null-29" dnum="A-o" numlevel="1" lineno="77" slineno="1-44" level="4"><display>(A)</display>each candidate who had the highest number of votes for each office; and</subsection><subsection ssid="1-null-30" dnum="B-o" numlevel="1" lineno="78" slineno="1-45" level="4"><display>(B)</display><amendoutstart style="2"/><amend anum="0" ea="erase" pairid="6" groupid="6" style="2" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" deltag="both">each of the presidential electors of the candidate for president who received a <ln numlevel="1" lineno="79" slineno="1-46"/>majority of the votes</amend><amendoutend style="2"/><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="4" groupid="4" style="1" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" amendtag="both" space="true">in a presidential election, each presidential elector who is <ln numlevel="1" lineno="80" slineno="1-47"/>elected under Subsection <xref tempid="627">20A-13-301(4)</xref></amend>.</subsection></subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="1-null-31" dnum="d-o" numlevel="1" lineno="81" slineno="1-48" level="2"><display>(d)</display>The lieutenant governor shall, in the report described in Subsection <xref depth="4" refnumber="20A-4-306(2)(b)">(2)(b)</xref>, declare a <ln numlevel="1" lineno="82" slineno="1-49"/>tie vote if:<subsection ssid="1-null-32" dnum="i-o" numlevel="1" lineno="83" slineno="1-50" level="3"><display>(i)</display>two or more officers receive an equal and the highest number of votes for an <ln numlevel="1" lineno="84" slineno="1-51"/>office; or</subsection><subsection ssid="1-null-33" dnum="ii-o" numlevel="1" lineno="85" slineno="1-52" level="3"><display>(ii)</display>in a race for an at-large office:<subsection ssid="1-null-34" dnum="A-o" numlevel="1" lineno="86" slineno="1-53" level="4"><display>(A)</display>two or more candidates receive an equal number of votes; and</subsection><subsection ssid="1-null-35" dnum="B-o" numlevel="1" lineno="87" slineno="1-54" level="4"><display>(B)</display>a recount is necessary to determine which candidates are elected to the at-large <ln numlevel="1" lineno="88" slineno="1-55"/>office.</subsection></subsection></subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="1-null-36" dnum="3-o" numlevel="1" lineno="89" slineno="1-56" level="1"><display>(3)</display>If the lieutenant governor has not received election returns from all counties on the fifth <ln numlevel="1" lineno="90" slineno="1-57"/>calendar day before the day designated for the meeting of the state board of canvassers, <ln numlevel="1" lineno="91" slineno="1-58"/>the lieutenant governor shall:<subsection ssid="1-null-37" dnum="a-o" numlevel="1" lineno="92" slineno="1-59" level="2"><display>(a)</display>send a messenger to the clerk of the board of county canvassers of the delinquent <ln numlevel="1" lineno="93" slineno="1-60"/>county;</subsection><subsection ssid="1-null-38" dnum="b-o" numlevel="1" lineno="94" slineno="1-61" level="2"><display>(b)</display>instruct the messenger to demand a certified copy of the board of canvasser's report <ln numlevel="1" lineno="95" slineno="1-62"/>required by Section <xref depth="3" refnumber="20A-4-304">20A-4-304</xref> from the clerk; and</subsection><subsection ssid="1-null-39" dnum="c-o" numlevel="1" lineno="96" slineno="1-63" level="2"><display>(c)</display>pay the messenger the per diem provided by law as compensation.</subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="1-null-40" dnum="4-o" numlevel="1" lineno="97" slineno="1-64" level="1"><display>(4)</display>The state board of canvassers may not withhold the declaration of the result or any <ln numlevel="1" lineno="98" slineno="1-65"/>certificate of election because of any defect or informality in the returns of any election <ln numlevel="1" lineno="99" slineno="1-66"/>if the board can determine from the returns, with reasonable certainty, what office is <ln numlevel="1" lineno="100" slineno="1-67"/>intended and who is elected to it.</subsection><subsection ssid="1-null-41" dnum="5-o" numlevel="1" lineno="101" slineno="1-68" level="1" space="false"><display>(5)</display><subsection ssid="1-null-42" dnum="a-o" level="2" placement="sameline"><display>(a)</display>At noon on the fourth Monday after the regular primary election, the lieutenant <ln numlevel="1" lineno="102" slineno="1-69"/>governor shall:<subsection ssid="1-null-43" dnum="i-o" numlevel="1" lineno="103" slineno="1-70" level="3" tab="1"><display>(i)</display>canvass the returns for all multicounty candidates required to file with the office <ln numlevel="1" lineno="104" slineno="1-71"/>of the lieutenant governor; and</subsection><subsection ssid="1-null-44" dnum="ii-o" numlevel="1" lineno="105" slineno="1-72" level="3" tab="1"><display>(ii)</display>publish and file the results of the canvass in the lieutenant governor's office.</subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="1-null-45" dnum="b-o" numlevel="1" lineno="106" slineno="1-73" level="2"><display>(b)</display>Not later than the August 1 after the primary election, the lieutenant governor shall <ln numlevel="1" lineno="107" slineno="1-74"/>certify the results of the primary canvass to the county clerks.</subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="1-null-46" dnum="6-o" numlevel="1" lineno="108" slineno="1-75" level="1" space="false"><display>(6)</display><subsection ssid="1-null-47" dnum="a-o" level="2" placement="sameline"><display>(a)</display>At noon on the fourth Tuesday in March of a year in which a presidential election <ln numlevel="1" lineno="109" slineno="1-76"/>will be held, the lieutenant governor shall:<subsection ssid="1-null-48" dnum="i-o" numlevel="1" lineno="110" slineno="1-77" level="3" tab="1"><display>(i)</display>canvass the returns of the presidential primary election; and</subsection><subsection ssid="1-null-49" dnum="ii-o" numlevel="1" lineno="111" slineno="1-78" level="3" tab="1"><display>(ii)</display>publish and file the results of the canvass in the lieutenant governor's office.</subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="1-null-50" dnum="b-o" numlevel="1" lineno="112" slineno="1-79" level="2"><display>(b)</display>The lieutenant governor shall certify the results of the presidential primary election <ln numlevel="1" lineno="113" slineno="1-80"/>canvass to each registered political party that participated in the primary not later <ln numlevel="1" lineno="114" slineno="1-81"/>than the April 15 after the primary election.</subsection></subsection></section></bsec><bsec buid="6" num="20A-8-106" type="amend" src="code" uid="C20A-8-S106_2026050620260506" sort="20A08 01060020260506" numlevel="1" lineno="115" slineno="2-1" sn="2"><section number="20A-8-106" numlevel="1" lineno="116" slineno="2-2" type="amend"><secline lineno="115">Section 2. Section <bold>20A-8-106</bold> is amended to read:</secline><catline lineno="116"><bold>20A-8-106<parens/>. Organization as a political party -- Certification procedures.</bold></catline><subsection ssid="6-null-1" dnum="1-o" numlevel="1" lineno="117" slineno="2-3" level="1" placement="noreturn"><display>(1)</display>Before 5 p.m. no later than March 1 of the regular general election year, the prospective <ln numlevel="1" lineno="118" slineno="2-4"/>political <amendoutstart style="2"/><amend anum="0" ea="erase" pairid="16" groupid="15" style="2" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" deltag="both"> party's</amend><amendoutend style="2"/><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="10" groupid="9" style="1" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" amendtag="both" space="true">party's</amend> officers or governing board shall file the names of the <amendoutstart style="2"/><amend anum="0" ea="erase" pairid="17" groupid="16" style="2" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" deltag="both"> </amend><amendoutend style="2"/>party <ln numlevel="1" lineno="119" slineno="2-5"/>officers or governing board with the lieutenant governor.</subsection><subsection ssid="6-null-2" dnum="2-o" numlevel="1" lineno="120" slineno="2-6" level="1"><display>(2)</display>After reviewing the information and determining that all proper procedures have been <ln numlevel="1" lineno="121" slineno="2-7"/>completed, the lieutenant governor shall:<subsection ssid="6-null-3" dnum="a-o" numlevel="1" lineno="122" slineno="2-8" level="2"><display>(a)</display>issue a certificate naming the organization as a registered political party in Utah and <ln numlevel="1" lineno="123" slineno="2-9"/>designating <amendoutstart style="2"/><amend anum="0" ea="erase" pairid="18" groupid="17" style="2" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" deltag="both">its</amend><amendoutend style="2"/><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="11" groupid="10" style="1" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" amendtag="both" space="true">the registered political party's</amend> official name; and</subsection><subsection ssid="6-null-4" dnum="b-o" numlevel="1" lineno="124" slineno="2-10" level="2"><display>(b)</display>inform each county clerk that the organization is a registered political party in Utah.</subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="6-null-5" dnum="3-o" numlevel="1" lineno="125" slineno="2-11" level="1"><display>(3)</display><amendoutstart style="2"/><amend anum="0" ea="erase" pairid="19" groupid="18" style="2" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" deltag="both">All election officers and state officials</amend><amendoutend style="2"/><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="12" groupid="11" style="1" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" amendtag="both" space="true">Each election officer and state official</amend> shall <ln numlevel="1" lineno="126" slineno="2-12"/>consider the organization to be and shall treat the organization as a registered political <ln numlevel="1" lineno="127" slineno="2-13"/>party.</subsection><subsection ssid="6-null-6" dnum="4-o" numlevel="1" lineno="128" slineno="2-14" level="1"><display>(4)</display>The newly registered political party shall comply with all the provisions of Utah law <ln numlevel="1" lineno="129" slineno="2-15"/>governing <amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="13" groupid="12" style="1" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" amendtag="both">registered </amend>political parties.</subsection><subsection ssid="6-null-7" dnum="5-o:_-i" numlevel="1" lineno="130" slineno="2-16" ea="erase" anum="0" owner="jchristopherson" and vice president of the United States before 5 p.m. no <ln numlevel="1" lineno="145" slineno="2-31"/>later than August 31 of the year in which the presidential election will be held; and</amend></subsection><subsection ssid="6-25" dnum="_-o:ii-i" numlevel="1" lineno="146" slineno="2-32" ea="amend" anum="0" owner="jchristopherson" style="1" level="3"><display><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="1063" style="1" owner="i" level="1" amendtag="start">(ii)</amend></display><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="130" groupid="108" style="1" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" amendtag="end">choose individuals to act as the registered political party's presidential electors in <ln numlevel="1" lineno="147" slineno="2-33"/>accordance with Section <xref depth="3" refnumber="20A-13-301">20A-13-301</xref>.</amend></subsection></subsection></subsection></section></bsec><bsec buid="18" num="20A-9-202" type="amend" src="code" uid="C20A-9-S202_2026050620260506" sort="20A09 02020020260506" numlevel="1" lineno="148" slineno="3-1" sn="3"><section number="20A-9-202" numlevel="1" lineno="149" slineno="3-2" type="amend"><secline lineno="148">Section 3. Section <bold>20A-9-202</bold> is amended to read:</secline><catline lineno="149"><bold>20A-9-202<parens/>. Declarations of candidacy for regular general elections.</bold></catline><subsection ssid="18-null-1" dnum="1-o" numlevel="1" lineno="150" slineno="3-3" level="1" placement="noreturn" space="false"><display>(1)</display><subsection ssid="18-null-2" dnum="a-o" level="2" placement="sameline"><display>(a)</display>An individual seeking to become a candidate for an elective office that is to be <ln numlevel="1" lineno="151" slineno="3-4"/>filled at the next regular general election shall:<subsection ssid="18-null-3" dnum="i-o" numlevel="1" lineno="152" slineno="3-5" level="3" tab="1"><display>(i)</display>except as provided in Subsection <xref depth="4" refnumber="20A-9-202(1)(c)" start="0">(1)(c)</xref>, file a declaration of candidacy in person <ln numlevel="1" lineno="153" slineno="3-6"/>with the filing officer on or after January 1 of the regular general election year, <ln numlevel="1" lineno="154" slineno="3-7"/>and, if applicable, before the individual circulates nomination petitions under <ln numlevel="1" lineno="155" slineno="3-8"/>Section <xref depth="3" refnumber="20A-9-405" start="0">20A-9-405</xref>; and</subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-4" dnum="ii-o" numlevel="1" lineno="156" slineno="3-9" level="3" tab="1"><display>(ii)</display>pay the filing fee.</subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-5" dnum="b-o" numlevel="1" lineno="157" slineno="3-10" level="2"><display>(b)</display>Unless expressly provided otherwise in this title, for a registered political party that <ln numlevel="1" lineno="158" slineno="3-11"/>is not a qualified political party, the deadline for filing a declaration of candidacy for <ln numlevel="1" lineno="159" slineno="3-12"/>an elective office that is to be filled at the next regular general election is 5 p.m. on <ln numlevel="1" lineno="160" slineno="3-13"/>the first Monday after the fourth Saturday in April.</subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-6" dnum="c-o" numlevel="1" lineno="161" slineno="3-14" level="2"><display>(c)</display>Subject to Subsection <xref depth="4" refnumber="20A-9-201(7)(b)" start="0">20A-9-201(7)(b)</xref>, an individual may designate an agent to file <ln numlevel="1" lineno="162" slineno="3-15"/>a declaration of candidacy with the filing officer if:<subsection ssid="18-null-7" dnum="i-o" numlevel="1" lineno="163" slineno="3-16" level="3"><display>(i)</display>the individual is located outside of the state during the entire filing period;</subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-8" dnum="ii-o" numlevel="1" lineno="164" slineno="3-17" level="3"><display>(ii)</display>the designated agent appears in person before the filing officer;</subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-9" dnum="iii-o" numlevel="1" lineno="165" slineno="3-18" level="3"><display>(iii)</display>the individual communicates with the filing officer using an electronic device <ln numlevel="1" lineno="166" slineno="3-19"/>that allows the individual and filing officer to see and hear each other; and</subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-10" dnum="iv-o" numlevel="1" lineno="167" slineno="3-20" level="3"><display>(iv)</display>the individual provides the filing officer with an email address to which the filing <ln numlevel="1" lineno="168" slineno="3-21"/>officer may send the individual the copies described in Subsection <xref depth="4" refnumber="20A-9-201(5)" start="0">20A-9-201(5)</xref>.</subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-11" dnum="d-o" numlevel="1" lineno="169" slineno="3-22" level="2"><display>(d)</display>Each county clerk who receives a declaration of candidacy from a candidate for <ln numlevel="1" lineno="170" slineno="3-23"/>multicounty office shall transmit the filing fee and a copy of the candidate's <ln numlevel="1" lineno="171" slineno="3-24"/>declaration of candidacy to the lieutenant governor within one business day after the <ln numlevel="1" lineno="172" slineno="3-25"/>candidate files the declaration of candidacy.</subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-12" dnum="e-o" numlevel="1" lineno="173" slineno="3-26" level="2"><display>(e)</display>Each business day during the filing period, each county clerk shall notify the <ln numlevel="1" lineno="174" slineno="3-27"/>lieutenant governor electronically or by telephone of candidates who have filed a <ln numlevel="1" lineno="175" slineno="3-28"/>declaration of candidacy with the county clerk.</subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-13" dnum="f-o" numlevel="1" lineno="176" slineno="3-29" level="2"><display>(f)</display>Each individual seeking the office of lieutenant governor, the office of district <ln numlevel="1" lineno="177" slineno="3-30"/>attorney, or the office of president or vice president of the United States shall comply <ln numlevel="1" lineno="178" slineno="3-31"/>with the specific declaration of candidacy requirements established by this section.</subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-14" dnum="2-o" numlevel="1" lineno="179" slineno="3-32" level="1" space="false"><display>(2)</display><subsection ssid="18-null-15" dnum="a-o" level="2" placement="sameline"><display>(a)</display>Each individual intending to become a candidate for the office of district attorney <ln numlevel="1" lineno="180" slineno="3-33"/>within a multicounty prosecution district that is to be filled at the next regular general <ln numlevel="1" lineno="181" slineno="3-34"/>election shall:<subsection ssid="18-null-16" dnum="i-o" numlevel="1" lineno="182" slineno="3-35" level="3" tab="1"><display>(i)</display>file a declaration of candidacy with the clerk designated in the interlocal <ln numlevel="1" lineno="183" slineno="3-36"/>agreement creating the prosecution district on or after January 1 of the regular <ln numlevel="1" lineno="184" slineno="3-37"/>general election year, and before the individual circulates nomination petitions <ln numlevel="1" lineno="185" slineno="3-38"/>under Section <xref depth="3" refnumber="20A-9-405" start="0">20A-9-405</xref>; and</subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-17" dnum="ii-o" numlevel="1" lineno="186" slineno="3-39" level="3" tab="1"><display>(ii)</display>pay the filing fee.</subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-18" dnum="b-o" numlevel="1" lineno="187" slineno="3-40" level="2"><display>(b)</display>The designated clerk shall provide to the county clerk of each county in the <ln numlevel="1" lineno="188" slineno="3-41"/>prosecution district a certified copy of each declaration of candidacy filed for the <ln numlevel="1" lineno="189" slineno="3-42"/>office of district attorney.</subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-19" dnum="3-o" numlevel="1" lineno="190" slineno="3-43" level="1" space="false"><display>(3)</display><subsection ssid="18-null-20" dnum="a-o" level="2" placement="sameline"><display>(a)</display>Before the deadline described in Subsection <xref depth="4" refnumber="20A-9-202(1)(b)" start="0">(1)(b)</xref>, each lieutenant governor <ln numlevel="1" lineno="191" slineno="3-44"/>candidate shall:<subsection ssid="18-null-21" dnum="i-o" numlevel="1" lineno="192" slineno="3-45" level="3" tab="1"><display>(i)</display>file a declaration of candidacy with the lieutenant governor;</subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-22" dnum="ii-o" numlevel="1" lineno="193" slineno="3-46" level="3" tab="1"><display>(ii)</display>pay the filing fee; and</subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-23" dnum="iii-o" numlevel="1" lineno="194" slineno="3-47" level="3" tab="1"><display>(iii)</display>submit a letter from a candidate for governor who has received certification for <ln numlevel="1" lineno="195" slineno="3-48"/>the primary-election ballot under Section <xref depth="3" refnumber="20A-9-403" start="0">20A-9-403</xref> that names the lieutenant <ln numlevel="1" lineno="196" slineno="3-49"/>governor candidate as a joint-ticket running mate.</subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-24" dnum="b-o" numlevel="1" lineno="197" slineno="3-50" level="2" space="false"><display>(b)</display><subsection ssid="18-null-25" dnum="i-o" level="3" placement="sameline"><display>(i)</display>A candidate for lieutenant governor who fails to timely file is disqualified.</subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-26" dnum="ii-o" numlevel="1" lineno="198" slineno="3-51" level="3"><display>(ii)</display>If a candidate for lieutenant governor is disqualified, another candidate may file <ln numlevel="1" lineno="199" slineno="3-52"/>to replace the disqualified candidate.</subsection></subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-27" dnum="4-o" numlevel="1" lineno="200" slineno="3-53" level="1"><display>(4)</display>Before 5 p.m. no later than August 31, each registered political party shall:<subsection ssid="18-null-28" dnum="a-o" numlevel="1" lineno="201" slineno="3-54" level="2"><display>(a)</display>certify the names of the political party's candidates for president and vice president of <ln numlevel="1" lineno="202" slineno="3-55"/>the United States to the lieutenant governor; or</subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-29" dnum="b-o" numlevel="1" lineno="203" slineno="3-56" level="2"><display>(b)</display>provide written authorization for the lieutenant governor to accept the certification of <ln numlevel="1" lineno="204" slineno="3-57"/>candidates for president and vice president of the United States from the national <ln numlevel="1" lineno="205" slineno="3-58"/>office of the registered political party.</subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-30" dnum="5-o" numlevel="1" lineno="206" slineno="3-59" level="1" space="false"><display>(5)</display><subsection ssid="18-null-31" dnum="a-o" level="2" placement="sameline"><display>(a)</display>A declaration of candidacy filed under this section is valid unless a written <ln numlevel="1" lineno="207" slineno="3-60"/>objection is filed with the clerk or lieutenant governor no later than 5 p.m. on the last <ln numlevel="1" lineno="208" slineno="3-61"/>business day that is at least 10 calendar days before the deadline described in <ln numlevel="1" lineno="209" slineno="3-62"/>Subsection <xref depth="4" refnumber="20A-9-409(4)(c)" start="0">20A-9-409(4)(c)</xref>.</subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-32" dnum="b-o" numlevel="1" lineno="210" slineno="3-63" level="2"><display>(b)</display>If an objection is made, the clerk or lieutenant governor shall:<subsection ssid="18-null-33" dnum="i-o" numlevel="1" lineno="211" slineno="3-64" level="3"><display>(i)</display>mail or personally deliver notice of the objection to the affected candidate <ln numlevel="1" lineno="212" slineno="3-65"/>immediately; and</subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-34" dnum="ii-o" numlevel="1" lineno="213" slineno="3-66" level="3"><display>(ii)</display>decide any objection within 48 hours after it is filed.</subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-35" dnum="c-o" numlevel="1" lineno="214" slineno="3-67" level="2"><display>(c)</display>If the clerk or lieutenant governor sustains the objection, the candidate may cure the <ln numlevel="1" lineno="215" slineno="3-68"/>problem by:<subsection ssid="18-null-36" dnum="i-o" numlevel="1" lineno="216" slineno="3-69" level="3"><display>(i)</display> amending the declaration or petition no later than 5 p.m. on the first business day <ln numlevel="1" lineno="217" slineno="3-70"/>that is at least three calendar days after the day on which the objection is <ln numlevel="1" lineno="218" slineno="3-71"/>sustained; or</subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-37" dnum="ii-o" numlevel="1" lineno="219" slineno="3-72" level="3"><display>(ii)</display>filing a new declaration no later than 5 p.m. on the first business day that is at <ln numlevel="1" lineno="220" slineno="3-73"/>least three calendar days after the day on which the objection is sustained.</subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-38" dnum="d-o" numlevel="1" lineno="221" slineno="3-74" level="2" space="false"><display>(d)</display><subsection ssid="18-null-39" dnum="i-o" level="3" placement="sameline"><display>(i)</display>The clerk's or lieutenant governor's decision upon objections to form is final.</subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-40" dnum="ii-o" numlevel="1" lineno="222" slineno="3-75" level="3"><display>(ii)</display>The clerk's or lieutenant governor's decision upon substantive matters is <ln numlevel="1" lineno="223" slineno="3-76"/>reviewable by a district court if prompt application is made to the court.</subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-41" dnum="iii-o" numlevel="1" lineno="224" slineno="3-77" level="3"><display>(iii)</display>The decision of the district court is final unless the Supreme Court, in the <ln numlevel="1" lineno="225" slineno="3-78"/>exercise of its discretion, agrees to review the lower court decision.</subsection></subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-42" dnum="6-o" numlevel="1" lineno="226" slineno="3-79" level="1"><display>(6)</display>Any person who filed a declaration of candidacy may withdraw as a candidate by filing <ln numlevel="1" lineno="227" slineno="3-80"/>a written affidavit with the clerk.</subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-43" dnum="7-o" numlevel="1" lineno="228" slineno="3-81" level="1" space="false"><display>(7)</display><subsection ssid="18-null-44" dnum="a-o" level="2" placement="sameline"><display>(a)</display>Except for a candidate who is certified by a registered political party under <ln numlevel="1" lineno="229" slineno="3-82"/>Subsection <xref depth="4" refnumber="20A-9-202(4)" start="0">(4)</xref>, <amendoutstart style="2"/><amend anum="0" ea="erase" pairid="3" groupid="3" style="2" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" deltag="both">and except as provided in Section <xref depth="3" refnumber="20A-9-504" start="0">20A-9-504</xref>, before 5 p.m. no later <ln numlevel="1" lineno="230" slineno="3-83"/>than August 31 of a general election year, </amend><amendoutend style="2"/>each individual running as a candidate for <ln numlevel="1" lineno="231" slineno="3-84"/>vice president of the United States shall<amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="2" groupid="2" style="1" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" amendtag="both">, before 5 p.m. no later than August 31of a <ln numlevel="1" lineno="232" slineno="3-85"/>general election year</amend>:<subsection ssid="18-null-45" dnum="i-o" numlevel="1" lineno="233" slineno="3-86" level="3" tab="1"><display>(i)</display>file a declaration of candidacy, in person or via a designated agent, on a form <ln numlevel="1" lineno="234" slineno="3-87"/>developed by the lieutenant governor, that:<subsection ssid="18-null-46" dnum="A-o" numlevel="1" lineno="235" slineno="3-88" level="4"><display>(A)</display>contains the individual's name, address, and telephone number;</subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-47" dnum="B-o" numlevel="1" lineno="236" slineno="3-89" level="4"><display>(B)</display>states that the individual meets the qualifications for the office of vice <ln numlevel="1" lineno="237" slineno="3-90"/>president of the United States;</subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-48" dnum="C-o" numlevel="1" lineno="238" slineno="3-91" level="4"><display>(C)</display>names the presidential candidate, who has qualified for the general election <ln numlevel="1" lineno="239" slineno="3-92"/>ballot, with which the individual is running as a joint-ticket running mate;</subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-49" dnum="D-o" numlevel="1" lineno="240" slineno="3-93" level="4"><display>(D)</display>states that the individual agrees to be the running mate of the presidential <ln numlevel="1" lineno="241" slineno="3-94"/>candidate described in Subsection <xref depth="4" refnumber="20A-9-202(7)(a)(i)(C)" start="0">(7)(a)(i)(C)</xref>; and</subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-50" dnum="E-o" numlevel="1" lineno="242" slineno="3-95" level="4"><display>(E)</display>contains any other necessary information identified by the lieutenant governor;</subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-51" dnum="ii-o" numlevel="1" lineno="243" slineno="3-96" level="3" tab="1"><display>(ii)</display>pay the filing fee; and</subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-52" dnum="iii-o" numlevel="1" lineno="244" slineno="3-97" level="3" tab="1"><display>(iii)</display>submit a letter from the presidential candidate described in Subsection <xref depth="4" refnumber="20A-9-202(7)(a)(i)(C)" start="0"><ln numlevel="1" lineno="245" slineno="3-98"/>(7)(a)(i)(C)</xref> that names the individual as a joint-ticket running mate as a vice <ln numlevel="1" lineno="246" slineno="3-99"/>presidential candidate.</subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-53" dnum="b-o" numlevel="1" lineno="247" slineno="3-100" level="2"><display>(b)</display>A designated agent described in Subsection <xref depth="4" refnumber="20A-9-202(7)(a)(i)" start="0">(7)(a)(i)</xref> may not sign the declaration of <ln numlevel="1" lineno="248" slineno="3-101"/>candidacy.</subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-54" dnum="c-o" numlevel="1" lineno="249" slineno="3-102" level="2"><display>(c)</display>A vice presidential candidate who fails to meet the requirements described in this <ln numlevel="1" lineno="250" slineno="3-103"/>Subsection <xref depth="4" refnumber="20A-9-202(7)" start="0">(7)</xref> may not appear on the general election ballot.</subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="18-null-55" dnum="8-o" numlevel="1" lineno="251" slineno="3-104" level="1"><display>(8)</display>An individual filing a declaration of candidacy for president or vice president of the <ln numlevel="1" lineno="252" slineno="3-105"/>United States shall pay a filing fee of $500.</subsection></section></bsec><bsec buid="16" num="20A-9-504" type="amend" src="code" uid="C20A-9-S504_2026050620260506" sort="20A09 05040020260506" numlevel="1" lineno="253" slineno="4-1" sn="4"><section number="20A-9-504" numlevel="1" lineno="254" slineno="4-2" type="amend"><secline lineno="253">Section 4. Unaffiliated candidates -- Governor and president of the United <ln numlevel="1" lineno="255" slineno="4-3"/>States.</bold></catline><subsection ssid="16-null-1" dnum="1-o" numlevel="1" lineno="256" slineno="4-4" level="1" placement="noreturn" space="false"><display>(1)</display><subsection ssid="16-null-2" dnum="a-o" level="2" placement="sameline"><display>(a)</display>Each unaffiliated candidate for governor shall, before 5 p.m. no later than June 15 <ln numlevel="1" lineno="257" slineno="4-5"/>of the regular general election year, select a running mate to file as an unaffiliated <ln numlevel="1" lineno="258" slineno="4-6"/>candidate for the office of lieutenant governor.</subsection><subsection ssid="16-null-3" dnum="b-o" numlevel="1" lineno="259" slineno="4-7" level="2"><display>(b)</display>The unaffiliated lieutenant governor candidate shall, before 5 p.m. no later than June <ln numlevel="1" lineno="260" slineno="4-8"/>15 of the regular general election year, file as an unaffiliated candidate by following <ln numlevel="1" lineno="261" slineno="4-9"/>the procedures and requirements of this part.</subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="16-null-4" dnum="2-o" numlevel="1" lineno="262" slineno="4-10" level="1" space="false"><display>(2)</display><subsection ssid="16-null-5" dnum="a-o" level="2" placement="sameline"><display>(a)</display>Each unaffiliated candidate for president of the United States shall, before 5 p.m. <ln numlevel="1" lineno="263" slineno="4-11"/>no later than August <amendoutstart style="2"/><amend anum="0" ea="erase" pairid="5" groupid="5" style="2" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" deltag="both">15</amend><amendoutend style="2"/><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="3" groupid="3" style="1" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" amendtag="both" space="true">31</amend> of a regular general election year, select a running mate <ln numlevel="1" lineno="264" slineno="4-12"/>to file as an unaffiliated candidate for the office of vice president of the United States.</subsection><subsection ssid="16-null-6" dnum="b-o" numlevel="1" lineno="265" slineno="4-13" level="2"><display>(b)</display>Before 5 p.m. no later than August <amendoutstart style="2"/><amend anum="0" ea="erase" pairid="6" groupid="6" style="2" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" deltag="both">15</amend><amendoutend style="2"/><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="4" groupid="4" style="1" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" amendtag="both" space="true">31</amend> of a regular general election year, the <ln numlevel="1" lineno="266" slineno="4-14"/>unaffiliated candidate for vice president of the United States described in Subsection <xref depth="4" refnumber="20A-9-504(2)(a)"><ln numlevel="1" lineno="267" slineno="4-15"/>(2)(a)</xref> shall comply with the requirements of Subsection <xref depth="4" refnumber="20A-9-202(7)">20A-9-202(7)</xref>.</subsection></subsection></section></bsec><bsec buid="11" num="20A-13-301" type="amend" src="code" uid="C20A-13-S301_2026050620260506" sort="20A13 03010020260506" numlevel="1" lineno="268" slineno="5-1" sn="5"><section number="20A-13-301" numlevel="1" lineno="269" slineno="5-2" type="amend"><secline lineno="268">Section 5. Presidential elections -- Allocation of electoral votes.</bold></catline><subsection ssid="11-null-1" dnum="1-o:_-i" numlevel="1" lineno="270" slineno="5-3" ea="erase" anum="0" owner="jchristopherson" style="2" level="1" placement="noreturn" space="false"><display><amendoutstart style="2"/><amend anum="0" ea="erase" pairid="1125" style="2" owner="o" level="1" deltag="start">(1)</amend></display><subsection ssid="11-null-2" dnum="a-o:_-i" ea="erase" anum="0" owner="jchristopherson" style="2" level="2" placement="sameline"><display><amend anum="0" ea="erase" pairid="1126" style="2" owner="o" level="1">(a)</amend></display><amend anum="0" ea="erase" pairid="13" groupid="8" style="2" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" deltag="end">Each registered political party shall choose individuals to act as presidential <ln numlevel="1" lineno="271" slineno="5-4"/>electors and to fill vacancies in the office of presidential electors for their party's <ln numlevel="1" lineno="272" slineno="5-5"/>candidates for president and vice president of the United States according to the <ln numlevel="1" lineno="273" slineno="5-6"/>procedures established in their bylaws.</amend><amendoutend style="2"/></subsection><subsection ssid="11-null-3" dnum="b-o:_-i" numlevel="1" lineno="274" slineno="5-7" ea="erase" anum="0" owner="jchristopherson" style="2" level="2"><display><amendoutstart style="2"/><amend anum="0" ea="erase" pairid="1127" style="2" owner="o" level="1" deltag="start">(b)</amend></display><amend anum="0" ea="erase" pairid="14" groupid="9" style="2" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" deltag="end">Each registered political party shall certify to the lieutenant governor the names and <ln numlevel="1" lineno="275" slineno="5-8"/>addresses of the individuals selected by the political party as the party's presidential <ln numlevel="1" lineno="276" slineno="5-9"/>electors before 5 p.m. no later than August 31.</amend><amendoutend style="2"/></subsection><subsection ssid="11-null-4" dnum="c-o:_-i" numlevel="1" lineno="277" slineno="5-10" ea="erase" anum="0" owner="jchristopherson" style="2" level="2"><display><amendoutstart style="2"/><amend anum="0" ea="erase" pairid="1128" style="2" owner="o" level="1" deltag="start">(c)</amend></display><amend anum="0" ea="erase" pairid="15" groupid="10" style="2" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" deltag="end">An unaffiliated candidate or write-in candidate for the office of president of the <ln numlevel="1" lineno="278" slineno="5-11"/>United States shall, no later than 5 p.m. on the first business day that is at least 10 <ln numlevel="1" lineno="279" slineno="5-12"/>calendar days after the day on which the candidate files a declaration of candidacy, <ln numlevel="1" lineno="280" slineno="5-13"/>certify to the lieutenant governor the names and addresses of each individual selected <ln numlevel="1" lineno="281" slineno="5-14"/>by the candidate as a presidential elector for the candidate and each individual <ln numlevel="1" lineno="282" slineno="5-15"/>selected by the candidate to fill a vacancy in the office of presidential elector for the <ln numlevel="1" lineno="283" slineno="5-16"/>candidate.</amend><amendoutend style="2"/></subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="11-null-5" dnum="2-o:_-i" numlevel="1" lineno="284" slineno="5-17" ea="erase" anum="0" owner="jchristopherson" style="2" level="1"><display><amendoutstart style="2"/><amend anum="0" ea="erase" pairid="1129" style="2" owner="o" level="1" deltag="start">(2)</amend></display><amend anum="0" ea="erase" pairid="22" groupid="14" style="2" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" deltag="end">The highest number of votes cast for candidates for president and vice president of the <ln numlevel="1" lineno="285" slineno="5-18"/>United States elects the presidential electors for:</amend><amendoutend style="2"/><subsection ssid="11-null-6" dnum="a-o:_-i" numlevel="1" lineno="286" slineno="5-19" ea="erase" anum="0" owner="jchristopherson" style="2" level="2"><display><amendoutstart style="2"/><amend anum="0" ea="erase" pairid="1130" style="2" owner="o" level="1" deltag="start">(a)</amend></display><amend anum="0" ea="erase" pairid="23" groupid="15" style="2" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" deltag="end">except as provided in Subsection <xref depth="4" refnumber="20A-13-301(2)(b)" start="0">(2)(b)</xref>, the political party of those candidates; Section <bold>20A-13-303</bold> is amended to read:</secline><catline lineno="344"><bold>20A-13-303<parens/>. Filling vacancies.</bold></catline><subsection ssid="14-null-7" dnum="_-o:1-i" numlevel="1" lineno="345" slineno="7-3" ea="amend" anum="0" owner="jchristopherson" style="1" level="1" placement="noreturn"><display><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="1156" style="1" owner="i" level="1" amendtag="both">(1)</amend></display><amendoutstart style="2"/><amend anum="0" ea="erase" pairid="5" groupid="4" style="2" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" deltag="both"><tab/>If there is a vacancy in the office of presidential elector because of death, refusal to <ln numlevel="1" lineno="346" slineno="7-4"/>act, failure to attend, ineligibility, or any other cause, the individual or political party <ln numlevel="1" lineno="347" slineno="7-5"/>represented by the elector who caused the vacancy shall immediately fill the vacancy.</amend><amendoutend style="2"/><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="7" groupid="6" style="1" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" amendtag="both" space="true">If <ln numlevel="1" lineno="348" slineno="7-6"/>a vacancy occurs in the office of presidential elector for any reason, the registered <ln numlevel="1" lineno="349" slineno="7-7"/>political party, unaffiliated candidate, or write-in candidate represented by the elector <ln numlevel="1" lineno="350" slineno="7-8"/>who causes the vacancy shall immediately:</amend><subsection ssid="14-null-8" dnum="_-o:a-i" numlevel="1" lineno="351" slineno="7-9" ea="amend" anum="0" owner="jchristopherson" style="1" level="2"><display><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="1157" style="1" owner="i" level="1" amendtag="start">(a)</amend></display><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="12" groupid="10" style="1" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" amendtag="end">notify the lieutenant governor; and</amend></subsection><subsection ssid="14-null-9" dnum="_-o:b-i" numlevel="1" lineno="352" slineno="7-10" ea="amend" anum="0" owner="jchristopherson" style="1" level="2"><display><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="1158" style="1" owner="i" level="1" amendtag="start">(b)</amend></display><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="17" groupid="14" style="1" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" amendtag="end">fill the vacancy with the individual that:</amend><subsection ssid="14-null-10" dnum="_-o:i-i" numlevel="1" lineno="353" slineno="7-11" ea="amend" anum="0" owner="jchristopherson" style="1" level="3"><display><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="1159" style="1" owner="i" level="1" amendtag="start">(i)</amend></display><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="30" groupid="25" style="1" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" amendtag="end">the registered political party chooses under Subsection <xref refnumber="11-13">20A-13-301(2)(c)</xref>; or</amend></subsection><subsection ssid="14-null-11" dnum="_-o:ii-i" numlevel="1" lineno="354" slineno="7-12" ea="amend" anum="0" owner="jchristopherson" style="1" level="3"><display><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="1160" style="1" owner="i" level="1" amendtag="start">(ii)</amend></display><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="35" groupid="29" style="1" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" amendtag="end">the unaffiliated candidate or write-in candidate chooses under Subsection <xref tempid="148"><ln numlevel="1" lineno="355" slineno="7-13"/>20A-13-301(3)(c)</xref>.</amend></subsection></subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="14-null-12" dnum="_-o:2-i" numlevel="1" lineno="356" slineno="7-14" ea="amend" anum="0" owner="jchristopherson" style="1" level="1"><display><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="1161" style="1" owner="i" level="1" amendtag="start">(2)</amend></display><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="25" groupid="21" style="1" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" amendtag="end">Upon receiving the notice described in Subsection <xref refnumber="20A-13-303(1)(a)" depth="4">(1)(a)</xref>, the lieutenant governor shall <ln numlevel="1" lineno="357" slineno="7-15"/>immediately prepare and transmit a certificate of election to the individual described in <ln numlevel="1" lineno="358" slineno="7-16"/>Subsection <xref depth="4" refnumber="20A-13-303(1)(b)">(1)(b)</xref>.</amend></subsection></section></bsec><bsec buid="19" type="uncod" untype="effdate" src="uncod" uid="EF0000" sort="UZEFF" langlock="true" numlevel="1" lineno="359" slineno="8-1" sn="8"><section type="uncod" untype="effdate" display="false" src="uncod"><secline lineno="359">Section 8.  <bold>Effective Date.</bold></secline><sectionText lineno="360"><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="1" groupid="1" style="1" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" amendtag="both">This bill takes effect on <effdate uid="code" date="5/6/2026">May 6, 2026</effdate>.</amend></sectionText></section></bsec></bdy><foot><rev><tm>12-29-25 10:53 AM</tm></rev></foot></leg>
