</hl><hl numlevel="1" lineno="11" slineno="0-11" level="1">provide for compensation of the Secretary of State; </hl><hl numlevel="1" lineno="12" slineno="0-12" level="1">provide the manner in which a vacancy in the office of Secretary of State is filled; It is proposed to amend Utah Constitution, Article VII, Section 1 to read</secline><catline lineno="30"><bold>Article VII, Section 1<parens/>. [Executive Department officers -- Terms, residence, and <ln numlevel="1" lineno="31" slineno="1-3"/>duties.]</bold></catline><subsection ssid="3-null-1" dnum="1-o" numlevel="1" lineno="32" slineno="1-4" level="1" placement="noreturn"><display>(1)</display>The elective constitutional officers of the Executive Department shall consist of <ln numlevel="1" lineno="33" slineno="1-5"/>Governor, Lieutenant Governor, State Auditor, State Treasurer, <amendoutstart style="2"/><amend anum="0" ea="erase" pairid="34" groupid="28" style="2" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" deltag="both">and </amend><amendoutend style="2"/>Attorney General<amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="4" groupid="4" style="1" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" amendtag="both">, <ln numlevel="1" lineno="34" slineno="1-6"/>and Secretary of State</amend>.</subsection><subsection ssid="3-null-2" dnum="2-o" numlevel="1" lineno="35" slineno="1-7" level="1"><display>(2)</display>Each officer shall:<subsection ssid="3-null-3" dnum="a-o" numlevel="1" lineno="36" slineno="1-8" level="2"><display>(a)</display>hold office for<amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="33" groupid="27" style="1" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" amendtag="both">, except as provided in Subsection <xref depth="4" refnumber="Article VII, Section 1(3)(b)">(3)(b)</xref>,</amend> four years beginning on the <ln numlevel="1" lineno="37" slineno="1-9"/>first Monday of January next after their election;</subsection><subsection ssid="3-null-4" dnum="b-o" numlevel="1" lineno="38" slineno="1-10" level="2"><display>(b)</display>during their terms of office reside within the state; and</subsection><subsection ssid="3-null-5" dnum="c-o" numlevel="1" lineno="39" slineno="1-11" level="2"><display>(c)</display>perform such duties as are prescribed by this Constitution and as provided by statute.</subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="3-6" dnum="_-o:3-i" numlevel="1" lineno="40" slineno="1-12" ea="amend" anum="0" owner="jchristopherson" style="1" level="1" space="false"><display><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="1005" style="1" owner="i" level="1" amendtag="start">(3)</amend></display><subsection ssid="3-8" dnum="_-o:a-i" ea="amend" anum="0" owner="jchristopherson" style="1" level="2" placement="sameline"><display><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="1006" style="1" owner="i" level="1">(a)</amend></display><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="31" groupid="25" style="1" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" amendtag="end">The election of the first Secretary of State after the adoption of Article VII, <ln numlevel="1" lineno="41" slineno="1-13"/>Section 22, shall occur at the general election in 2028.</amend></subsection><subsection ssid="3-7" dnum="_-o:b-i" numlevel="1" lineno="42" slineno="1-14" ea="amend" anum="0" owner="jchristopherson" style="1" level="2"><display><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="1007" style="1" owner="i" level="1" amendtag="start">(b)</amend></display><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="26" groupid="21" style="1" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" amendtag="end">The term of the Secretary of State elected in 2028 is two years beginning on the first <ln numlevel="1" lineno="43" slineno="1-15"/>Monday of January next after the election. Each subsequent term is four years <ln numlevel="1" lineno="44" slineno="1-16"/>beginning on the first Monday of January next after the election.</amend></subsection></subsection></section></bsec><bsec buid="14" num="Article VII, Section 2" type="amend" src="const" uid="UC_AVII_S2_2026050620260506" sort="00I07 00020020260506" numlevel="1" lineno="45" slineno="2-1" sn="2"><section number="Article VII, Section 2" numlevel="1" lineno="46" slineno="2-2" type="amend"><secline lineno="45">Section 2. It is proposed to amend Utah Constitution, Article VII, Section 2 to read</secline><catline lineno="46"><bold>Article VII, Section 2<parens/>. [Election of officers -- Governor and Lieutenant <ln numlevel="1" lineno="47" slineno="2-3"/>Governor elected jointly.]</bold></catline><subsection ssid="14-null-1" dnum="1-o" numlevel="1" lineno="48" slineno="2-4" level="1" placement="noreturn"><display>(1)</display>The officers provided for in <amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="2" groupid="2" style="1" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" amendtag="both">Article VII, </amend><xref depth="3" refnumber="Article VII, Section 1">Section 1</xref> shall be elected by the qualified <ln numlevel="1" lineno="49" slineno="2-5"/>voters of the state at the time and place of voting for members of the Legislature. The <ln numlevel="1" lineno="50" slineno="2-6"/>candidates respectively having the highest number of votes cast for the office voted for <ln numlevel="1" lineno="51" slineno="2-7"/>shall be elected. If two or more candidates have an equal and the highest number of <ln numlevel="1" lineno="52" slineno="2-8"/>votes for any one of the offices, the two houses of the Legislature at its next session shall <ln numlevel="1" lineno="53" slineno="2-9"/>elect by joint ballot one of those candidates for that office.</subsection><subsection ssid="14-null-2" dnum="2-o" numlevel="1" lineno="54" slineno="2-10" level="1"><display>(2)</display>In the election the names of the candidates for Governor and Lieutenant Governor for <ln numlevel="1" lineno="55" slineno="2-11"/>each political party shall appear together on the ballot and the votes cast for a candidate <ln numlevel="1" lineno="56" slineno="2-12"/>for Governor shall be considered as also cast for the candidate for Lieutenant Governor.</subsection></section></bsec><bsec buid="6" num="Article VII, Section 3" type="amend" src="const" uid="UC_AVII_S3_2026050620260506" sort="00I07 00030020260506" numlevel="1" lineno="57" slineno="3-1" sn="3"><section number="Article VII, Section 3" numlevel="1" lineno="58" slineno="3-2" type="amend"><secline lineno="57">Section 3. It is proposed to amend Utah Constitution, Article VII, Section 3 to read</secline><catline lineno="58"><bold>Article VII, Section 3<parens/>. [Qualifications of officers.]</bold></catline><subsection ssid="6-null-1" dnum="1-o" numlevel="1" lineno="59" slineno="3-3" level="1" placement="noreturn"><display>(1)</display>To be eligible for the office of Governor or Lieutenant Governor a person shall be 30 <ln numlevel="1" lineno="60" slineno="3-4"/>years of age or older at the time of election.</subsection><subsection ssid="6-null-2" dnum="2-o" numlevel="1" lineno="61" slineno="3-5" level="1"><display>(2)</display>To be eligible for the office of Attorney General a person shall be 25 years of age or <ln numlevel="1" lineno="62" slineno="3-6"/>older, at the time of election, admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the State <ln numlevel="1" lineno="63" slineno="3-7"/>of Utah, and in good standing at the bar.</subsection><subsection ssid="6-null-3" dnum="3-o" numlevel="1" lineno="64" slineno="3-8" level="1"><display>(3)</display>To be eligible for the office of State Auditor<amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="28" groupid="25" style="1" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" amendtag="both">,</amend> <amendoutstart style="2"/><amend anum="0" ea="erase" pairid="31" groupid="28" style="2" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" deltag="both">or </amend><amendoutend style="2"/>State Treasurer<amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="29" groupid="26" style="1" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" amendtag="both">, or Secretary of State</amend> a <ln numlevel="1" lineno="65" slineno="3-9"/>person shall be 25 years of age or older at the time of election.</subsection><subsection ssid="6-null-4" dnum="4-o" numlevel="1" lineno="66" slineno="3-10" level="1"><display>(4)</display>No person is eligible to any of the offices provided for in <amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="33" groupid="30" style="1" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" amendtag="both">Article VII, </amend>Section 1 unless at <ln numlevel="1" lineno="67" slineno="3-11"/>the time of election that person is a qualified voter and has been a resident citizen of the <ln numlevel="1" lineno="68" slineno="3-12"/>state for five years next preceding the election.</subsection></section></bsec><bsec buid="8" num="Article VII, Section 10" type="amend" src="const" uid="UC_AVII_S10_2026050620260506" sort="00I07 00100020260506" numlevel="1" lineno="69" slineno="4-1" sn="4"><section number="Article VII, Section 10" numlevel="1" lineno="70" slineno="4-2" type="amend"><secline lineno="69">Section 4. It is proposed to amend Utah Constitution, Article VII, Section 10 to read</secline><catline lineno="70"><bold>Article VII, Section 10<parens/>. [Governor's appointive power -- Governor to appoint to <ln numlevel="1" lineno="71" slineno="4-3"/>fill vacancy in other state offices -- Vacancy in the office of the Lieutenant Governor.]</bold></catline><subsection ssid="8-null-1" dnum="1-o" numlevel="1" lineno="72" slineno="4-4" level="1" placement="noreturn" space="false"><display>(1)</display><subsection ssid="8-null-2" dnum="a-o" level="2" placement="sameline"><display>(a)</display>The Governor shall nominate, and by and with consent of the Senate, appoint all <ln numlevel="1" lineno="73" slineno="4-5"/>State and district officers whose offices are established by this Constitution, or which <ln numlevel="1" lineno="74" slineno="4-6"/>may be created by law, and whose appointment or election is not otherwise provided <ln numlevel="1" lineno="75" slineno="4-7"/>for.</subsection><subsection ssid="8-null-3" dnum="b-o" numlevel="1" lineno="76" slineno="4-8" level="2"><display>(b)</display>If, during the recess of the Senate, a vacancy occurs in any State or district office, the <ln numlevel="1" lineno="77" slineno="4-9"/>Governor shall appoint some qualified person to discharge the duties thereof until the <ln numlevel="1" lineno="78" slineno="4-10"/>next meeting of the Senate, when the Governor shall nominate some person to fill <ln numlevel="1" lineno="79" slineno="4-11"/>such office.</subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="8-null-4" dnum="2-o" numlevel="1" lineno="80" slineno="4-12" level="1"><display>(2)</display>If the office of State Auditor, State Treasurer, <amendoutstart style="2"/><amend anum="0" ea="erase" pairid="10" groupid="9" style="2" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" deltag="both">or </amend><amendoutend style="2"/>Attorney General<amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="9" groupid="8" style="1" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" amendtag="both">, or Secretary of <ln numlevel="1" lineno="81" slineno="4-13"/>State</amend> be vacated by death, resignation, or otherwise, it shall be the duty of the Governor <ln numlevel="1" lineno="82" slineno="4-14"/>to fill the same by appointment, from the same political party as the removed person; <ln numlevel="1" lineno="83" slineno="4-15"/>and the appointee shall hold office until a successor shall be elected and qualified, as <ln numlevel="1" lineno="84" slineno="4-16"/>provided by law.</subsection><subsection ssid="8-null-5" dnum="3-o" numlevel="1" lineno="85" slineno="4-17" level="1" space="false"><display>(3)</display><subsection ssid="8-null-6" dnum="a-o" level="2" placement="sameline"><display>(a)</display>A vacancy in the office of Lieutenant Governor occurs when:<subsection ssid="8-null-7" dnum="i-o" numlevel="1" lineno="86" slineno="4-18" level="3" tab="1"><display>(i)</display>the Lieutenant Governor dies, resigns, is removed from office following <ln numlevel="1" lineno="87" slineno="4-19"/>impeachment, becomes Governor under Article VII, Section 11, ceases to reside <ln numlevel="1" lineno="88" slineno="4-20"/>within the State, or is determined, as provided in Subsection <xref depth="4" refnumber="Article VII, Section 10(3)(b)" start="0">(3)(b)</xref>, to have a <ln numlevel="1" lineno="89" slineno="4-21"/>disability that renders the Lieutenant Governor unable to discharge the duties of <ln numlevel="1" lineno="90" slineno="4-22"/>office for the remainder of the Lieutenant Governor's term of office; or</subsection><subsection ssid="8-null-8" dnum="ii-o" numlevel="1" lineno="91" slineno="4-23" level="3" tab="1"><display>(ii)</display>the Lieutenant Governor-elect fails to take office because of the Lieutenant <ln numlevel="1" lineno="92" slineno="4-24"/>Governor-elect's death, failure to qualify for office, or disability, determined as <ln numlevel="1" lineno="93" slineno="4-25"/>provided in Subsection <xref depth="4" refnumber="Article VII, Section 10(3)(b)" start="0">(3)(b)</xref>, that renders the Lieutenant Governor-elect unable <ln numlevel="1" lineno="94" slineno="4-26"/>to discharge the duties of office for the Lieutenant Governor-elect's full term of <ln numlevel="1" lineno="95" slineno="4-27"/>office.</subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="8-null-9" dnum="b-o" numlevel="1" lineno="96" slineno="4-28" level="2" space="false"><display>(b)</display><subsection ssid="8-null-10" dnum="i-o" level="3" placement="sameline"><display>(i)</display>Except when the disability of a Lieutenant Governor is determined under <xref depth="4" refnumber="Article VII, Section 11(6)" start="0"><ln numlevel="1" lineno="97" slineno="4-29"/>Article VII, Section 11, Subsection (6)</xref> because the Lieutenant Governor is acting <ln numlevel="1" lineno="98" slineno="4-30"/>as Governor under <xref depth="4" refnumber="Article VII, Section 11(5)" start="0">Article VII, Section 11, Subsection (5)</xref>, the disability of a <ln numlevel="1" lineno="99" slineno="4-31"/>Lieutenant Governor or Lieutenant Governor-elect shall be determined by a <ln numlevel="1" lineno="100" slineno="4-32"/>written declaration stating that the Lieutenant Governor or Lieutenant <ln numlevel="1" lineno="101" slineno="4-33"/>Governor-elect is unable to discharge the powers and duties of the office.</subsection><subsection ssid="8-null-11" dnum="ii-o" numlevel="1" lineno="102" slineno="4-34" level="3"><display>(ii)</display>The written declaration under Subsection <xref depth="4" refnumber="Article VII, Section 10(3)(b)(i)" start="0">(3)(b)(i)</xref> shall be transmitted to the <ln numlevel="1" lineno="103" slineno="4-35"/>Supreme Court and shall be signed by:<subsection ssid="8-null-12" dnum="A-o" numlevel="1" lineno="104" slineno="4-36" level="4"><display>(A)</display>the Governor; or</subsection><subsection ssid="8-null-13" dnum="B-o" numlevel="1" lineno="105" slineno="4-37" level="4" space="false"><display>(B)</display><subsection ssid="8-null-14" dnum="I-o" level="5" placement="sameline"><display>(I)</display>the Lieutenant Governor, if the Lieutenant Governor is the subject of the <ln numlevel="1" lineno="106" slineno="4-38"/>declaration; or</subsection><subsection ssid="8-null-15" dnum="II-o" numlevel="1" lineno="107" slineno="4-39" level="5"><display>(II)</display>the Lieutenant Governor-elect, if the Lieutenant Governor-elect is the <ln numlevel="1" lineno="108" slineno="4-40"/>subject of the declaration.</subsection></subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="8-null-16" dnum="iii-o" numlevel="1" lineno="109" slineno="4-41" level="3"><display>(iii)</display>If the Lieutenant Governor or Lieutenant Governor-elect, as the case may be, <ln numlevel="1" lineno="110" slineno="4-42"/>disputes a declaration transmitted by the Governor under Subsection <xref depth="4" refnumber="Article VII, Section 10(3)(b)(i)" start="0">(3)(b)(i)</xref>, the <ln numlevel="1" lineno="111" slineno="4-43"/>Lieutenant Governor or Lieutenant Governor-elect may, within ten days after the <ln numlevel="1" lineno="112" slineno="4-44"/>declaration is transmitted to the Supreme Court, file a petition requesting the <ln numlevel="1" lineno="113" slineno="4-45"/>Supreme Court to determine whether a disability exists as stated in the Governor's <ln numlevel="1" lineno="114" slineno="4-46"/>declaration.</subsection><subsection ssid="8-null-17" dnum="iv-o" numlevel="1" lineno="115" slineno="4-47" level="3"><display>(iv)</display>In determining whether a disability exists, the Supreme Court shall follow <ln numlevel="1" lineno="116" slineno="4-48"/>procedures that the Court establishes, unless the Legislature by statute establishes <ln numlevel="1" lineno="117" slineno="4-49"/>procedures for the Supreme Court to follow in determining whether a disability <ln numlevel="1" lineno="118" slineno="4-50"/>exists.</subsection><subsection ssid="8-null-18" dnum="v-o" numlevel="1" lineno="119" slineno="4-51" level="3"><display>(v)</display>A determination of disability under this Subsection <xref depth="4" refnumber="Article VII, Section 10(3)(b)" start="0">(3)(b)</xref> is final and conclusive.</subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="8-null-19" dnum="c-o" numlevel="1" lineno="120" slineno="4-52" level="2" space="false"><display>(c)</display><subsection ssid="8-null-20" dnum="i-o" level="3" placement="sameline"><display>(i)</display>If a vacancy in the office of Lieutenant Governor occurs, the Governor shall, <ln numlevel="1" lineno="121" slineno="4-53"/>with the consent of the Senate, appoint a person as Lieutenant Governor, to serve:<subsection ssid="8-null-21" dnum="A-o" numlevel="1" lineno="122" slineno="4-54" level="4" tab="1"><display>(A)</display>except as provided in Subsection <xref depth="4" refnumber="Article VII, Section 10(3)(c)(i)(B)" start="0">(3)(c)(i)(B)</xref>, the remainder of the unexpired <ln numlevel="1" lineno="123" slineno="4-55"/>term; or</subsection><subsection ssid="8-null-22" dnum="B-o" numlevel="1" lineno="124" slineno="4-56" level="4" tab="1"><display>(B)</display>until the first Monday in January of the year following the next regular general <ln numlevel="1" lineno="125" slineno="4-57"/>election after the vacancy occurs, if an election is held for Governor and <ln numlevel="1" lineno="126" slineno="4-58"/>Lieutenant Governor under <xref depth="4" refnumber="Article VII, Section 11(4)" start="0">Article VII, Section 11, Subsection (4)</xref>.</subsection></subsection><subsection ssid="8-null-23" dnum="ii-o" numlevel="1" lineno="127" slineno="4-59" level="3"><display>(ii)</display>The person appointed as Lieutenant Governor under Subsection <xref depth="4" refnumber="Article VII, Section 10(3)(c)(i)" start="0">(3)(c)(i)</xref> shall be <ln numlevel="1" lineno="128" slineno="4-60"/>from the same political party as the Governor.</subsection><subsection ssid="8-null-24" dnum="iii-o" numlevel="1" lineno="129" slineno="4-61" level="3"><display>(iii)</display>Neither the President of the Senate nor the Speaker of the House of <ln numlevel="1" lineno="130" slineno="4-62"/>Representatives may, while acting as Governor under <xref depth="4" refnumber="Article VII, Section 11(5)" start="0">Article VII, Section 11, <ln numlevel="1" lineno="131" slineno="4-63"/>Subsection (5)</xref>, appoint a person as Lieutenant Governor to fill a vacancy in that <ln numlevel="1" lineno="132" slineno="4-64"/>office.</subsection></subsection></subsection></section></bsec><bsec buid="9" num="Article VII, Section 18" type="amend" src="const" uid="UC_AVII_S18_2026050620260506" sort="00I07 00180020260506" numlevel="1" lineno="133" slineno="5-1" sn="5"><section number="Article VII, Section 18" numlevel="1" lineno="134" slineno="5-2" type="amend"><secline lineno="133">Section 5. It is proposed to amend Utah Constitution, Article VII, Section 18 to read</secline><catline lineno="134"><bold>Article VII, Section 18<parens/>. [Compensation of state and local officers.]</bold></catline><subsection ssid="9-null-1" dnum="1-o" numlevel="1" lineno="135" slineno="5-3" level="1" placement="noreturn"><display>(1)</display>The Governor, Lieutenant Governor, State Auditor, State Treasurer, Attorney General, <amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="2" groupid="2" style="1" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" amendtag="both"><ln numlevel="1" lineno="136" slineno="5-4"/>Secretary of State, </amend>and any other state officer as the Legislature may provide, shall <ln numlevel="1" lineno="137" slineno="5-5"/>receive for their services a fixed and definite compensation as provided by law.</subsection><subsection ssid="9-null-2" dnum="2-o" numlevel="1" lineno="138" slineno="5-6" level="1" space="false"><display>(2)</display><subsection ssid="9-null-3" dnum="a-o" level="2" placement="sameline"><display>(a)</display>The compensation provided for in Subsection <xref depth="4" refnumber="Article VII, Section 18(1)" start="0">(1)</xref> shall be in full for all services <ln numlevel="1" lineno="139" slineno="5-7"/>rendered by those officers in any official capacity or employment during their terms <ln numlevel="1" lineno="140" slineno="5-8"/>of office.</subsection><subsection ssid="9-null-4" dnum="b-o" numlevel="1" lineno="141" slineno="5-9" level="2"><display>(b)</display>An officer may not receive for the performance of any official duty any fee for <ln numlevel="1" lineno="142" slineno="5-10"/>personal use, but all fees fixed by the Legislature for the performance by  any of them <ln numlevel="1" lineno="143" slineno="5-11"/>of any official duty shall be collected in advance and deposited with the appropriate <ln numlevel="1" lineno="144" slineno="5-12"/>treasury.</subsection><subsection ssid="9-null-5" dnum="c-o" numlevel="1" lineno="145" slineno="5-13" level="2"><display>(c)</display>The Legislature may provide for the payment of actual and necessary expenses of <ln numlevel="1" lineno="146" slineno="5-14"/>those officers while traveling in the performance of official duties.</subsection></subsection></section></bsec><bsec buid="4" num="Article VII, Section 22" type="enact" src="const" uid="UC_AVII_S22_2026050620260506" sort="00I07 00220020260506" numlevel="1" lineno="147" slineno="6-1" sn="6"><section numlevel="1" lineno="148" slineno="6-2" number="Article VII, Section 22" type="enact"><secline lineno="147">Section 6. It is proposed to enact Utah Constitution, Article VII, Section 22 to read:</secline><catline lineno="148"><bold>Article VII, Section 22<parens/>. [Duties.]</bold></catline><sectionText lineno="149"><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="11" groupid="9" style="1" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" amendtag="both">The Secretary of State shall:</amend></sectionText><subsection ssid="4-3" dnum="_-o:1-i" numlevel="1" lineno="150" slineno="6-4" ea="amend" anum="0" owner="jchristopherson" style="1" level="1"><display><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="1043" style="1" owner="i" level="1" amendtag="start">(1)</amend></display><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="18" groupid="14" style="1" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" amendtag="end">oversee and generally supervise, as provided by statute, all elections, and functions <ln numlevel="1" lineno="151" slineno="6-5"/>relating to elections, in the state, except that the Legislature may, by statute, grant <ln numlevel="1" lineno="152" slineno="6-6"/>authority relating to elections to another state official when the Secretary of State has a <ln numlevel="1" lineno="153" slineno="6-7"/>conflict of interest in the exercise of that authority; and</amend></subsection><subsection ssid="4-4" dnum="_-o:2-i" numlevel="1" lineno="154" slineno="6-8" ea="amend" anum="0" owner="jchristopherson" style="1" level="1"><display><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="1044" style="1" owner="i" level="1" amendtag="start">(2)</amend></display><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="23" groupid="18" style="1" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" amendtag="end">perform other duties as may be provided by statute.</amend></subsection></section></bsec><bsec buid="2" type="uncod" untype="votesub" src="uncod" uid="VS0000" sort="UB" langlock="false" numlevel="1" lineno="155" slineno="7-1" sn="7"><section type="uncod" untype="votesub" display="false" src="uncod"><secline lineno="155">Section 7.  <bold>Submittal to voters.</bold></secline><sectionText lineno="156"><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="1" groupid="1" style="1" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" amendtag="both">The lieutenant governor is directed to submit this proposed amendment to the voters of <ln numlevel="1" lineno="157" slineno="7-3"/>the state at the next regular general election in the manner provided by law.</amend></sectionText></section></bsec><bsec buid="1" type="uncod" untype="contingent" src="uncod" uid="CT0000" sort="UC" langlock="false" numlevel="1" lineno="158" slineno="8-1" sn="8"><section type="uncod" untype="contingent" display="false" src="uncod"><secline lineno="158">Section 8.  <bold>Contingent effective date.</bold></secline><sectionText lineno="159"><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="1" groupid="1" style="1" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" amendtag="both">If the amendment proposed by this joint resolution is approved by a majority of those <ln numlevel="1" lineno="160" slineno="8-3"/>voting on it at the next regular general election, the amendment shall take effect on January 1, <ln numlevel="1" lineno="161" slineno="8-4"/>2027.</amend></sectionText></section></bsec></bdy><foot><rev><tm>2-10-26 9:12 AM</tm></rev></foot></leg>
