and</hl><hl numlevel="1" lineno="11" slineno="0-11" level="1">expresses support for the federal government's continued preservation of Utah's public <ln numlevel="1" lineno="12" slineno="0-12"/>lands for future generations.</hl></hp><moni numlevel="1" lineno="13" slineno="0-13" display="none">Money Appropriated in this Bill:</moni><moniNone lineno="14">None</moniNone><oc numlevel="1" lineno="15" slineno="0-15">Other Special Clauses:</oc><ocNone lineno="16">None</ocNone></lt><enacthead lineno="17"/><enact numlevel="1" lineno="18" slineno="0-18">Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah, the Governor concurring therein:</enact><bdy><bsec buid="1" type="enact" src="reso" uid="RESO" sort="00000R" numlevel="1" lineno="19" slineno="1-1" sn="1"><section type="enact" display="false" src="reso"><amend anum="0" ea="amend" pairid="1" groupid="1" style="X" owner="jchristopherson" level="1" amendtag="both">WHEREAS, Utah is home to some of the most extraordinary landscapes in the United <ln numlevel="1" lineno="20" slineno="1-2"/>States, including towering red rock formations, vast forests, pristine alpine wilderness, and <ln numlevel="1" lineno="21" slineno="1-3"/>sweeping desert vistas;<eol numlevel="1" lineno="22" slineno="1-4" display="tab"/>WHEREAS, Utah's federally managed public lands are held in trust for all to enjoy, <ln numlevel="1" lineno="23" slineno="1-5"/>allowing current and future generations to experience the natural, cultural, historical, and <ln numlevel="1" lineno="24" slineno="1-6"/>recreational wonders that define the American West;<eol numlevel="1" lineno="25" slineno="1-7" display="tab"/>WHEREAS, federally managed public lands in Utah contribute significantly to the state's <ln numlevel="1" lineno="26" slineno="1-8"/>economy through outdoor recreation, tourism, hunting, fishing, scientific research, and <ln numlevel="1" lineno="27" slineno="1-9"/>sustainable resource use, helping to sustain local communities while preserving natural <ln numlevel="1" lineno="28" slineno="1-10"/>heritage;<eol numlevel="1" lineno="29" slineno="1-11" display="tab"/>WHEREAS, local residents and tribes value the culturally and historically significant <ln numlevel="1" lineno="30" slineno="1-12"/>artifacts and sites in the state;<eol numlevel="1" lineno="31" slineno="1-13" display="tab"/>WHEREAS, the citizens of the state desire effective, efficient, and consistent stewardship <ln numlevel="1" lineno="32" slineno="1-14"/>of the public lands;<eol numlevel="1" lineno="33" slineno="1-15" display="tab"/>WHEREAS, Utah's federally managed public lands include an exceptional diversity of <ln numlevel="1" lineno="34" slineno="1-16"/>places such as Arches National Park, Zion National Park, Canyonlands National Park, Bryce <ln numlevel="1" lineno="35" slineno="1-17"/>Canyon National Park, Capitol Reef National Park, the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, <ln numlevel="1" lineno="36" slineno="1-18"/>the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, the Desolation Canyon and Labyrinth <ln numlevel="1" lineno="37" slineno="1-19"/>Canyon Wilderness Areas, the High Uintas Wilderness Area, Fishlake National Forest, and <ln numlevel="1" lineno="38" slineno="1-20"/>millions of scenic and ecologically valuable acres in between;<eol numlevel="1" lineno="39" slineno="1-21" display="tab"/>WHEREAS, many different federal statutes and other laws provide effective and <ln numlevel="1" lineno="40" slineno="1-22"/>comprehensive layers of protection for our lands, water, air, and cultural resources;<eol numlevel="1" lineno="41" slineno="1-23" display="tab"/>WHEREAS, continual battling with the federal government over the management of our <ln numlevel="1" lineno="42" slineno="1-24"/>public lands leads to gridlock and instability which negatively impacts the ability of our <ln numlevel="1" lineno="43" slineno="1-25"/>citizens and visitors to enjoy, access, and utilize our public lands;<eol numlevel="1" lineno="44" slineno="1-26" display="tab"/>WHEREAS, the state and federal governments share interests, along with the tribes, in <ln numlevel="1" lineno="45" slineno="1-27"/>preserving sensitive areas and artifacts, in creating a balanced approach to managing national <ln numlevel="1" lineno="46" slineno="1-28"/>monuments;<eol numlevel="1" lineno="47" slineno="1-29" display="tab"/>WHEREAS, Utah continues to partner with the United States Forest Service, Natural <ln numlevel="1" lineno="48" slineno="1-30"/>Resources Conservation Service, and other federal agencies to reduce the risk of catastrophic <ln numlevel="1" lineno="49" slineno="1-31"/>wildfires and protect Utah's critical water sources; and<eol numlevel="1" lineno="50" slineno="1-32" display="tab"/>WHEREAS, maintaining these lands under federal management safeguards critical wildlife <ln numlevel="1" lineno="51" slineno="1-33"/>habitat, protects water quality and air resources, and upholds cultural and archaeological <ln numlevel="1" lineno="52" slineno="1-34"/>treasures that are integral to Utah's history and identity:<eol numlevel="1" lineno="53" slineno="1-35" display="tab"/>NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah, the <ln numlevel="1" lineno="54" slineno="1-36"/>Governor concurring therein, expresses strong and unequivocal support for the protection of <ln numlevel="1" lineno="55" slineno="1-37"/>Utah's public lands, recognizing these lands as a national treasure and a defining feature of the <ln numlevel="1" lineno="56" slineno="1-38"/>state's remarkable character.<eol numlevel="1" lineno="57" slineno="1-39" display="tab"/>BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature proclaims Utah's public lands should <ln numlevel="1" lineno="58" slineno="1-40"/>remain in the public domain, managed by federal agencies on behalf of all Americans, <ln numlevel="1" lineno="59" slineno="1-41"/>ensuring the state's beauty, ecological integrity, and cultural significance is preserved for <ln numlevel="1" lineno="60" slineno="1-42"/>generations to come.<eol numlevel="1" lineno="61" slineno="1-43" display="tab"/></amend><sectionText/></section></bsec></bdy><foot><rev><tm>3-2-26 3:30 PM</tm></rev></foot></leg>
