2011 Informal Letter Report
Summary: This letter summarizes the events that transpired after an audit request was made to review the Utah Disability Law Center (DLC). Because the DLC does not receive any state funds, we were denied access. However, since the DLC receives federal funding, the U.S. Governmental Accountability Office (GAO) does have standing to audit the DLC. Therefore, we drafted a letter to a member of Utah's congressional delegation for signature by the President of the Senate, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Governor requesting an audit of the DLC by the GAO. The draft letter was submitted to the Utah Senate for further action.
Summary: We conducted a review of allegations concerning unfair competitive business practices initiated by the Utah Local Governments Trust. A survey of the competitive business practices and operations of the Utah Local Governments Trust was performed and it was found that the Trust operated within state rules and established industry norms. We recommend no further action is required.
