1. Commission Business
Chair Ray called the meeting to order at 10:15 a.m.
Chair Ray excused Sen. Mayne, Tage Flint, and Jon Pierpont from the meeting. He also acknowledged Ted Frederick, who was in attendance for Gary Harter, and Dean Penovich, who was in attendance for Paul Patrick.
Rep. Peterson moved to approve the minutes of the December 7, 2017, meeting. The motion passed unanimously.
Chair Ray introduced those being considered for reappointment or appointment as members of the commission.
Brian Garrett moved to reappoint Terry Schow as a member of the commission in accordance with Utah Code Section 36-28-102(3)(b). The motion passed unanimously.
Randy Knight, recommended by the Veterans Advisory Council to serve on the commission in the stead of Greg Rowley, introduced himself to commission members.
Terry Schow moved to confirm Randy Knight as a commission member in accordance with Utah Code Section 36-28-102(2)(j). The motion passed unanimously.
Ross Ford introduced himself and provided commission members with background about his military experience.
Brian Garrett moved to confirm Ross Ford as a member of the commission in accordance with Utah Code Section 36-28-102(3)(c). The motion passed unanimously.
Art Hunsaker distributed and announced the proposed meeting schedule for the 2018 interim.

Michelle Bridges, editor, Valor Magazine, commented on the Utah-based quarterly publication that focuses on Utah veterans and military interest stories.

Tim Cosgrove moved to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously.
