MOTION: Sen. Escamilla moved to approve the minutes of the March 4, 2019, meeting. The motion passed with a vote of 5-0-3.

1. S.B. 229 Medical Billing Transparency Amendments (Weiler, T.)
Sen. Weiler presented the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Iwamoto moved to amend S.B. 229 with Amendment #1. The motion passed with a vote of 6-0-2.

1.        Page 1, Line 27 through Page 2, Line 32: 
27                 (1) { The } Subject to Subsection (2), the department shall { :   } make aggregate data produced under this chapter available to the public through a standardized application program interface format.
(2) (a) The department shall ensure that data made available to the public under Subsection (1):
(i) does not contain identifiable health data of a patient; and
28                 { (a) anonymize the data collected under this chapter to meet } (ii) meets state and federal data
29         privacy requirements, including the requirements of Section { 26-33a-109; and } 26-33a-107.
(b) The department may not release any data under Subsection (1) that may be identifiable health data of a patient.
30                 { (b) make the anonymized data available to the public through a standardized
31         application program interface format. }
32                 { (2) The requirements of Sections 27-33a-106 and 26-33a-107 do not apply to the release of anonymized data under Subsection (1). }
