Chair Thatcher called the meeting to order at 8:40 a.m. and welcomed Rep. Marc K. Roberts as the newly appointed House chair of the committee. |
MOTION: Chair Thatcher explained that the committee was unable to take action at its last meeting regarding the government use of facial recognition technology because a quorum was not present. Rep. Seegmiller moved to open a bill file addressing the government use of facial recognition technology. The motion passed with a vote of 9-0-6. | |||

Rep. Harrison asked about whether the draft legislation requires the Legislature to nominate individuals to temporarily fill a vacancy in the office of United States Senator from the same political party as the individual who vacated the office. The committee discussed the question and postponed voting on the draft legislation until later in the meeting after an amendment could be prepared and presented. |
The committee continued to discuss timelines and temporary appointment processes provided in the draft legislation. |
