Chair Ballard called the meeting to order at 8:08 a.m.

Deneece Huftalin, President, Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) gave an overview of SLCC; and discussed some current strategies, challenges, and budget requests.

4.Utah College Access Advisors / Keys to Success
Melanie Heath, Assistant Commissioner, Utah System of Higher Education (USHE), discussed the expansion of the Utah College Advising Corps.

Nicole Batt, Executive Director, Utah College Advising Corps discussed the expansion of this program.
Maverick Pexton, College Advisor at Juab High School, discussed the success of this program.
Ellie Rowley, Student Body President, Juab High School discussed her experience with the College Access Advisors.
Melanie Heath continued the presentation.
Rick Folkerson, President, Success in Education Foundation discussed the Keys to Success program.
Several committee members commented on the presentation.

MOTION:Rep. Strong moved to approve the minutes of the January 26, 2022 meeting.The motion passed with a vote of 13-0-6.

Vic Hockett introduced the Talent Ready Utah Program.

Vic Hockett continued the presentation regarding Talent Ready Utah.
Peter Reed discussed the Talent Ready Apprenticeship Connection and then Vic Hockett continued the presentation.

8.Advocacy and Awareness Campaign (Comm. Dave Woolstenhulme)
Dave Woolstenhulme, Commissioner, Utah System of Higher Education introduced the advocacy and awareness campaign.
Nina Barnes, Vice Chair of the Utah Board of Higher Education, explained the campaign.

Chair Woolstenhulme discussed the budget request regarding the advocacy campaign.
Sen. Wilson commented on the program.
Rep. Kwan asked if the program overlaps with the re-entry scholarships. Comm. Woolstenhulme responded.
9.Utah Higher Education Assistance Authority
Comm. Woolstenhulme discussed the process of the selling off the Utah Student Loan (UHEAA) portfolio with the assistance of Dave Schwanke.

Rep. Lesser discussed the funding request with the assistance of Devin Wiser, Executive Director, WSU Olene Walker Institute.

Chair Ballard discussed the History of Women Legislators in Utah 1994-Present Funding Request.

d. Engineering Initiative
Rep. Val Peterson introduced 16 individuals from the private sector who were attending the meeting in support of this funding request.
Rep. Peterson explained his funding request with the assistance of John Sutherland, Chief Information Officer, Trula Health.
