1.Call to Order
Chair Grover called the meeting to order at 8:04 a.m.

Taylor Randall, President, University of Utah, gave an overview of the university and discussed funding requests.

Rep. Miles asked about the demand trends of high-yield degrees.
Sen. Riebe asked about the turnover in counseling staff and about the Entertainment Arts and Engineering (gaming) Degree. Pres. Randall responded and continued the presentation.

Several committee members commented and asked questions.
4.Requests for Appropriation
a. Workforce Development Transition into Tech Careers
Rep. Hawkins introduced Tech-Moms and this funding request.
5d-Workforce Development Transition into Tech Careers
Trina Limpert, Director of Operations, and Robbyn Scribner, Director of Outreach, Tech-Moms, explained this funding request.
Chair Grover asked how individuals find their services. Trina Limpert responded.
b. Utah Innovation Lab
Rep. Robert Spendlove explained the request for appropriation with the assistance of Natalie Gochnour, Director of the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute at the University of Utah.
c. Ongoing Occupational Health and Safety Training
Sen.Luz Escamilla introduced this funding request on behalf on Sen. Mayne.
Joe Allen, University of Utah, Director of Graduate Programs and Dr. Ravi Krovi, Provost & Vice President of Academic Affairs, Weber State University explained this funding request.

Rep. Lesser explained this funding request with the assistance of Jennifer Bodine, Sustainability Center at WSU.

Rep. Miles asked where the sustainability projects were taking place. Jennifer Bodine responded.

Noelle Cockett, President, Utah State University (USU), gave an overview of USU and also discussed the funding requests.

Sen. McKell mentioned the incredible need for equine facilities in the state. Pres. Cockett continued the presentation.

Jed Hancock, President, Space Dynamics Lab gave an introduction to the lab.
Chair Miles asked for clarification about the student employees and the $1 billion contract. Jed Hancock and Pres. Cockett responded.
Rep. Strong mentioned his son's experience at the Space Dynamics Lab. Jed Hancock responded and continued the presentation.
Sen. Wilson commented on the USU presentation.

Brian Wikle explained the Higher Education Issue Brief.
