MOTION:Senator Buxton moved to approve the minutes of the June 15, 2022 meeting.The motion passed with a vote of 16-0-2.

2- Overview, "State Rail Safety Participation Program"
Representative Mike Schultz gave a presentation regarding Rail Safety with the assistance of Lisa Wilson, Deputy Director, Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT).
Committee members asked questions about the presentation. Representative Schultz and Lisa Wilson responded.
MOTION:Senator Anderegg moved to open a committee bill file to establish a State Rail Safety Office in UDOT.The motion passed with a vote of 17-0-1.

Andrew Gruber, Executive Director, Wasatch Front Regional Council, gave an overview of transportation funding.
3C- Presentation, "UDOT Transportation Funding"
Carlos Braceras, Executive Director, UDOT, gave a presentation regarding UDOT funding sources.
Committee members asked questions of Braceras.
MOTION:Representative Pierucci moved to direct the Transportation Commission to consider population growth when prioritizing UDOT projects. a committee bill file to weight growth among UTA Funding Sources. The motion passed with a vote of 15-0-3.

Andrew Jackson, Executive Director, Mountainland Association of Governments (MAG), gave a presentation regarding local transportation funding with the assistance of LaNiece Davenport, Regional Planning Director, MAG.

3D - MAG Transportation Funding Interim
Committee members asked questions of Jackson.
Lincoln Shurtz, a lobbyist representing Utah Association of Counties, discussed the funding for Class B & C roads.
Cameron Diehl, Executive Director, Utah League of Cities and Towns, spoke about the Class B & C road funding process.
Committee members asked questions of Shurtz and Diehl.
3.Statewide Transportation Improvement Plan (30 minutes)
Chair Harper announced that this item was moved to next meeting due to lack of time.
4.Highway and Bridge Memorial Signs (20 minutes)
5- Overview, "Highway or Bridge Memorial Naming in Utah and Other States"
Representative Merrill Nelson gave a brief overview about some basic standards regarding the naming of state roads. This item will be discussed in more detail at a later meeting.

MOTION:Representative Kwan moved to adjourn.The motion passed with a vote of 12-0-6.
