Wayne Niederhauser, State Homeless Coordinator, and Jill Hill, Salt Lake County Office of Homelessness and Criminal Justice Reform, updated committee members on homelessness in Utah and services provided by the state government, county governments, and non-profit organizations.
Shawn McMillen, Executive Director, and Mary "T" Calhoon, Director of Development, First Step House, provided an overview of the First Step House in Salt Lake County.
Shawn Guzman, Government Affairs Director, City of St. George, and Carol Hollowell, Executive Director, Switchpoint Community Resource Center, discussed homelessness and homeless services in St. George, Utah.

Ryan Starks, Executive Director, Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity, discussed the Statewide Economic Development Strategy Report, which highlights the programs, strategies, and impacts of the Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity.
4.Draft Legislation: State Rehabilitation Council
4a - 2024 General Session Draft Legislation, "State Rehabilitation Advisory Council Amendments"
Anikka Hoidal, Associate General Counsel, Office of Legislative Research and General Counsel, reviewed provisions of 2024 General Session draft legislation, "State Rehabilitation Advisory Council Amendments," which would extend the sunset date for the State Rehabilitation Advisory Council by 10 years.
MOTION:Rep. Briscoe moved to recommend as a committee bill 2024 General Session draft legislation, "State Rehabilitation Advisory Council Amendments."The motion passed with a vote of 9-0-5.
