Geoff Landward, Commissioner, and Nate Talley, Deputy Commissioner, Utah System of Higher Education, presented on the Utah Board of Higher Education's recent decision to raise tuition and fees at the state's degree-granting institutions of higher education, including the board's process and outcomes.
Sen. Johnson assumed the chair.
Zac Whitlock, Outgoing Student Body President, Utah Valley University, presented on student involvement in discussions on tuition and fee increases.
Brad Mortensen, President, Weber State University, and Taylor Randall, President, University of Utah, presented on their universities' tuitions and fees and provided updates on how their institutions are implementing 2024 General Session H.B. 261, Equal Opportunity Initiatives.
Brad Mortensen and Taylor Randall responded to questions from the committee.
Brad Mortensen and Taylor Randall discussed updates related to two 2024 General Session bills: H.B. 438, Higher Education Revisions, and S.B. 192, Higher Education Amendments.
