2.Sunset Review: Manufacturing Modernization Grant Program

Kori Ann Edwards, Managing Director, Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity (GOEO), presented on the data, impact, and funds distributed from the manufacturing modernization grant program.

MOTION:Sen. Millner moved to open a committee bill file to extend the modernization manufacturing grant program for three more years.The motion passed with a vote of 11-0-6.

3.Utah Innovation Lab
Sivan Nizan, Policy Analyst, Office of Legislative Research and General Counsel, gave an introduction on S.B 154, Independent Entities Amendments (2024 General Session), which requires review of state entities including the Utah Innovation Lab.
Jerry Henley, Managing Director, Utah Innovation Lab, presented on the need for the Utah Innovation Lab, what their goals and missions are, and what they have accomplished so far.
Rep. Strong asked a question and Jerry Henley answered and continued with the presentation.
Tori Hooper, Operations Manager, Utah Innovation Lab, continued the presentation by speaking to their self assessment practices and giving an overview of their board and annual report.

4.Housing Affordability
Dejan Eskic, senior research fellow, Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute, gave a Utah housing market update.

Steve Waldrip, Senior Advisor for Housing Strategy and Innovation, explained his role as advisor and expanded on Dejan Eskic's presentation by continuing to speak to housing affordability issues in Utah.
