MOTION:Brett Peterson moved to approve the minutes of the November 18, 2024, meeting.The motion passed with a vote of 9-0-6.

2.Update on School Safety Incidents in Other States
Matt Pennington, Chair Wilcox, and Sen. Owens presented on recent school shootings in other states.
3.School Safety Needs Assessments
3 - School Safety Updates Presentation (School Safety Center)
Shauntelle Cota, Director of School Safety and Student Services, Utah State Board of Education, provided updates on school safety needs assessments.
Shauntelle Cota and Matt Pennington responded to questions from the task force.
4.Roundtable Discussion
Matt Pennington presented an update on school security rules and standards.
4 - Cardiac Emergency Response Plan in Schools (American Heart Association)
Noah Miterko, Utah Government Relations Director, American Heart Association, presented on Cardiac Emergency Response Plans in schools.
Noah Miterko responded to questions from the task force.
Joe Ward, College of Humanities and Social Sciences Dean, and Judson Finley, Sociology, Anthropology and Criminal Justice Department Head, Utah State University, presented on Utah State University's trainings with the Department of Corrections and the Department of Public Safety.
The task force discussed county security chiefs and funding.
